Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
In the late 1960s, now-celebrated artist Adams was one of the creators who re-tooled the Batman, discarding the gimmicky trappings of the Batman TV show era and returning the character to his roots as a creature of the night. This excellent hardcover is the second in a set of three books reprinting Adams's complete Batman stories, re-colored by Adams himself. Denny O'Neil, Adams's partner on a series of recently reprinted Green Lantern/Green Arrow comics, scripts many of the stories collected here, eschewing the traditional rogues gallery of Batman villains and instead involving the hero in eerie mysteries such as "The Secret of the Waiting Graves," in which a Mexican couple attempts to protect the secret of their immortality. Adams's marvelous artwork was a sensation, and a major influence on the next generation of comics artists. Recommended for all libraries. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
