Children's LiteratureThe "Animal Kingdom Classification" series of books gives young readers an up close and personal look at many of Earth's diverse and intriguing animals. This particular book in the series pertains to the classification of animals known as mammals. Through the very effective use of an animal classification chart, diagrams, a glossary, and related resources, the reader becomes familiar with a variety of mammals. The origins of mammals are explained and the important topic of saving mammals is covered. Colorful illustrations and photographs make the animals come to life, adding to this book's empathetic appeal. This is a quality book with reinforced library binding and is well worth its price. The bear depicted on the hardback cover is most definitely an attention getter. Most children love to read about and look at pictures of animals; this is an animal book that I would definitely recommend. 2006, David West Children's Books/Compass Point Books, Ages 8 to 12.
