I really enjoyed this book. It gave me an awful perspective of an apocalyptic future, where people are dying in the scrapyard and excluded from the 'utopic' society that's Tiphares. We can really make a link between this book and what's happening today. The system of 'class' and how people are treated. Of course the book is much more gore and cruel, but if you think about it...we are not so far...

I am not an avid reader of graphic novels, and if I pick up a graphic novel, it is more than likely the style of artwork that caught my attention... then the plotline. Alita is a charming tomboy, with amazing strength and courage. Her story will not only draw you in, but keep you in suspense. Yukito Kishiro did an awesome job putting metal and flesh together in this series. It is definately a great read--chock full of humor, action and romance. It has a little of everything for everyone. If you haven't read this series, you're definately missing out. Btw, "Gunnm" is the Japanese title for this series; it means "gun dreams".

I could not put this down. Alita draws you in to her story not leting you out until the last page when you are forced to buy the next. This is a MUST in a serious manga collection.
