Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jill Walton
More than baseballs are spinning at the Coast City Stadium. An exciting game of human-style baseball is building momentum and all fans are following the action. Unfortunately, the fans include the powers for good and evil in the world of super-powered pests, and the baseball game may be the point of invasion from outer space. This is part of the “DC Super-Pets” series, and features the good Green Lantern Bug Corps versus the evil Sinestro Bug Corps. The cartoon illustrations of stylized fly, cockroach, earwig and a horde of other characters are very busy and colorful, but keep your eyes out for the green good guys. There are random words highlighted in different fonts for war cries like “Beeoom” or “FZZZZZL!!” Green in the font is for members of the Green Lantern Corps, of course. When the game is over, there is a hero and villain identity list for the DC Super-Pets and a Word Power glossary defines eight words in the text. This is an entertaining book for those who are fans. Reviewer: Jill Walton; Ages 6 to 9.
