Meet the Author

Martin J. Dougherty is a freelance writer and editor specializing in military and defense topics. His published works deal with subjects ranging from the history of small arms to naval warfare and private security. He has previously contributed to Battles of the Ancient World and Battles of the Medieval World.

Michael E. Haskew has been writing and researching military history subjects for over 20 years. He is the editor of World War II History Magazine. He lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Phyllis G. Jestice is Assistant Professor of Medieval History, University of Southern Mississippi. She was previously Lecturer in Ancient and Medieval History, California State University. She contributed to Battles of the Ancient World.

Rob S. Rice is a professor at the American Military University, teaching courses on Ancient and Modern Naval Warfare. He has published articles in the Oxford Companion to American Military History and contributed to Battles of the Ancient World and Fighting Techniques of the Ancient World.
