Led Zeppelin's BBC sessions were among the most popular bootleg items of the rock & roll era, appearing on a myriad of illegal records and CDs. They were all the more popular because of the lack of official Led Zeppelin live albums, especially since The Song Remains the Same failed to capture the essence of the band. For anyone who hadn't heard the recordings, the mystique of Zeppelin's BBC sessions was somewhat mystifying, but the official 1997 release of the double-disc BBC Sessions offered revelations for any fan who hadn't yet heard this music. While some collectors will be dismayed by the slight trimming on the "Whole Lotta Love Medley," almost all of the group's sessions are included here, and they prove why live Zeppelin was the stuff of legend. The 1969 sessions, recorded shortly after the release of the first album, are fiery and dynamic, outstripping the studio record for sheer power. Early versions of "You Shook Me," "Communication Breakdown," "What Is and What Should Never Be," and "Whole Lotta Love" hit harder than their recorded counterparts, while covers of Sleepy John Estes' "The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair," Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues," and Eddie Cochran's "Something Else" are welcome additions to the Zeppelin catalog, confirming their folk, blues, and rockabilly roots as well as their sense of vision. Zeppelin's grand vision comes into sharper relief on the second disc, which is comprised of their 1971 sessions. They still have their primal energy, but they're more adventurous, branching out into folk, twisted psychedelia, and weird blues-funk. Certainly, BBC Sessions is the kind of album that will only appeal to fans, but anyone who's ever doubted Zeppelin's power or vision will be set straight with this record.

    Communication Works!

This is the best live album from Led Zeppelin I've heard. The tracks aren't too long and vocalist's voice can be heard. The first tracks that aren't live 1-10 are nice because they are better done version of old tracks. This album is well done because it has tracks from each of first 4 albums.

The Best Sounding Led Zeppelin Ever

These two CD's were the first Zep albums i owned outside of my lp's. In my opinion, these sessions capture the best Led Zeppelin ever sounded. The Dazed and Confused is probably my favorite because its so refreashing. From one huge zep head to hopefully many others: I highly, highly, oh so highly recomend this set.

    By it or Regret it

After buying this killer CD, my bootlegs are gathering dust.. Zeppelin was, and always will be the innovation of music today. This CD was raw untamed Zeppelin at its total best.. If I had a bone to pick, I wish the entire Paris Theater show was on this.. For the longtime fan or someone just learning about the greatest band that ever assembled, I recommend buying this first and then the studio albums.. Just feel the power of this band live then capture the tightness of the band in the studio..

Excellent earlier Zeppelin music from this official bootleg encore live presentation collection!

BBC sessions is a wonderful CD by these british hard rock & heavy metal band's finest moments. It has a few of my favorite song tracks on here like ''Stairway To Heaven'', ''Dazed And Confused'' and also ''Whole Lotta Love''. Also it includes two previously unreleased performances as well!

    GET THIS NOW!!!!

I had this on bootleg for years....It is Led Zeppelin at the height of their majesty. Any Zep head without this is a loser. For that matter, any rock fan without this is a loser. Note : The CD sound quality is 100000% better than the bootleg, so spend the money, tightwad!!!
