Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

"Treehouse Man" Pete Nelson first earned his name designing and building this elevated architecture near his Washington state home. Since then, his reputation has gone national: Not only has he received been commissioned to create houses on both coasts; he has become a reality TV star on Animal Planet's Treehouse Masters. In Ultimate Treehouse, he justifies all the accolades with a fascinating world tour of these arboreal abodes. This hardcover is full of instructive information on the finer details of treehouse design and construction, but its abundant illustration never let you forget the primordial magic of these branch concealed hideaways.

The Washington Post Book World

“With its stunning photos of fanciful houses, Nelson’s book will appeal to anyone who ever read Peter Pan or The Swiss Family Robinson. . . . To browse through Nelson’s book is to fantasize about life in midair.”

    Dreams can come true!

I bought this book to fuel the dreams I share with my wife of building our dream house on family property. We have a considerable amount of wooded land to work with, so a treehouse could be a possibility! Since finishing Your Cabin in the Woods, we are inspired to build a small structure that blends into the environment. I love books like this that inspire you with well-written text and powerful images. There are some awesome treehouses around the world and* in the United States!

This new book by Pete Nelson is my first but I think it may be his best - since it's not just an inspiration book. In section two he covers the design process - selecting your location, designing the treehouse, and tips for the super-fun permitting process.
