Fascinating & most touching. Highly recommended!

For many people in their 40¿s and 50¿s, like me, The Ronettes were, and still are, the best girl group ever. Some consider ¿Be My Baby¿ the best 45 of all time, but ¿Walking In The Rain¿ is still my favorite. Ronnie Spector has shared an amazing, fascinating, and touching story. This tape is, unfortunately, abridged and the book is out of print. Ronnie Spector is a far better singer than a reader. What you get here, however, is the person who lived this story, reading it. Reading the tragic and emotional parts, you can hear her voice crack, and you know there are tears running down her face. If read by a professional reader or actor, this emotion would be lost. The tradeoff is well worth it. To write this book and then read it herself, seems rather courageous. You won¿t soon forget this story, or the tears in her voice. Ronnie Spector is a whole lot more than eyeliner and big hair.

    History with a Twist

Ronnie's story is one of the most waited-for by music-biz aficionados and show-biz acholars alike, and is told strikingly well, with immense attention to detail, and with riveting and emotional narrative in the chronicle of a painful odyssey. And to top it all off, in the coda of the book's reissue, Mrs. Spector, in her overview of Phil's recent murder charge makes a plea for his innocence! Who knows...maybe they'll even reunite one day....haven't stranger things happened?

    FASCINATING!!!

As a fan of the Ronettes AND all the girl-groups of the 1960's, this book was a must-read for me. Ronnie Spector would have achieved tremendous success had it not been for that lunatic she was married to. He may have been a genious with music, but his personal life bordered on madness. Ronnie should have been a much bigger star back then, but her husband Phil conspired to put a stop to that. Probably because he was jealous of her talent. That's okay though, because she has now achieved 'legendary' status and has received the recognition that alluded her for so long. This book is a tremendous look at the inner workings of show business and how Ronnie really did survive! A GREAT BOOK! Charles Gregory Blythe, California
