Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Fans of Amelia Bedelia will know that she is unsurpassed in taking what is said literally. In this lift-the-flap book, the wind steals her Valentine delivery list, so the resourceful Amelia decides that the text of each Valentine should help her identify the guests for Mrs. Rogers' party. Of course the text leads to some interesting selections as to guests. There is the policeman, a business man, two young kids, a baker, the trash men and a doctor. They all come to the party and share in the big heart full of chocolate candies and remark on what a big heart Amelia Bedelia has. Kids have to understand language and the double meanings that words can often have in order to fully appreciate the humor which is clearly illustrated when the large flaps or gatefolds are lifted. 2005, HarperCollins, Ages 6 up.
