The book Be The Ultimate Assistant, written by Bonnie Low-Kramen, inspired me to make a career choice.
When I decided to work as a personal assistant, I started looking for more information on the Internet. I was fortunate enough to find Bonnie's audio lecture on The Learning Annex site. After hearing it, I bought this book. Once I finished reading it I was even more certain that is my calling in life.
As Olympia Dukakis mentioned in the Foreword, Bonnie is in fact the ultimate assistant. In the book, Bonnie shares her expertise and her experiences with us.
Bonnie discusses, explains and exemplifies all the important aspects of a celebrity personal assistant career, as well as the qualities and skills needed for the job. She gives an in-depth job description, talks about work environments and how to get a job with salary and benefits. Bonnie also provides a list of resources for the professional assistant's day-to-day work.
Most importantly, she shows us the bright and dark side of being a celebrity personal assistant, helping us realize the benefits and the challenges we're about to face in this career.
I highly recommend the book as a mandatory read for anyone seeking a career as a celebrity personal assistant. But it's also a very interesting read for everyone who is interested in working in the entertainment industry.

After I read this book, I emailed Ms.Low-Kramen to tell her how grateful I was to have read so many helpful insights about becomming a Celebrity Assistant. Almost immediately Ms. Low-Kramen emailed me back and asked me several questions relating to my goals. Long story short, she has become a mentor to me by giving me great direction and challenging me to move towards my goals. She truly lives the principals described in her book. I will let each reader experience the joy of finding out what those principals are for themselves. However, unlike most other career books, you can actually communicate with this author and get the personal encouragement which will allow you to put your best foot forward and achieve some real success. Was this review helpful? It wouldn't be a bad idea to give this book to young people seeking career choices. Bonnie Low-Kramen presents tools and offers advice related to resumes, salary negotiation, networking, etc, all of which would apply to any field in the market.
It's a fast read but also a reference book you keep near you. The foreword by Olympia Dukakis is quite moving. I too am a celebrity assistant. What I have found to be true amongst those in our field is that the respect and gratitude of our employers are the ultimate prizes long sought and not always achieved. Bonnie Low-Kramen has not only reached that goal but has maintained it for years. In her own words she expresses the personal satisfaction of a job not only well done, but appreciated. The challenge of pleasing your boss all day, every day is not limited to the profession of celebrity assistant. As such, I would recommend this book for anyone, in any profession, as well for those who ponder supporting those whose life is in the fast lane.

Bonnie is right on point with this book. The Book "is a one of a kind for the Personal Assisting industry". The stories she shares are great examples and so common in the industry. She makes the reader feel as if they were working with her and Olympia. Bonnie gives good pointers for people looking to break into this field as well as good contacts for internet searches, recruiters, and unique and cool gift ideas. This is a great desk reference book. Buy it and you will not be sorry....Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This book is a great tool for anyone who has ever thought about a career in service - service to and for others. Bonnie confirmed for me all the thoughts and ideas I¿ve ever had about working as a personal assistant - someone who pays attention to details, thinks ahead, anticipates the needs of others, prepares a way and is committed to being of service. I will cherish her life¿s lessons and I will create my own. Thank you for validating my career choice and giving me the courage to pursue my dreams fully. If only I had read this book 10 years ago (smile.) The resources offered in this book will prove to be invaluable as I continue my own work and journey. THANK YOU Bonnie! Was this review helpful? Thanks to the knowledge I gained from the book, this year I received the best performance review for anyone who has ever been in my position as an executive assistant and also as a personal assistant to a high-powered executive and his spouse. I especially liked the entertaining examples for creative problem solving and exploring options for pulling off miracles. I learned how to prepare for ¿whatever it takes moments¿ ¿ and it worked. I saved the day for my employer when he was late for a plane. I loved the challenge. Be The Ultimate Assistant reminds us, ¿You don't get if you don't ask.¿ I called the airport and asked if they could open up a few more security lines as the lines were really long and my employer was running late and might miss his flight. The lady I was talking to said she would see what she could do. The next email I received was from my employer telling me, ¿Never mind about the next flight, they opened up more lines.¿ I just smiled and emailed back ¿ ¿Yes, I know, I just talked to them.¿ He emailed back ¿ ¿You¿re a Star!¿ The resources in the book are worth the cost of the book alone. I love learning from the success of others -- enjoy the read. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Bonnie is ¿THE ULTIMATE ASSISTANT¿! I have not met her in person, and yet she went above and beyond to grant me a favor. Due to a postal service mix-up, it took Bonnie three attempts to deliver the book to me. The book is a quick, fun read, and then a must have on any assistant¿s reference shelf. As a recruiter, I also highly recommend the book for anyone interested in getting and keeping a job. By practicing the basic work ethics set out in the book, you will receive recognition and rewards in any profession. Bonnie is also a huge supporter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals and her articles have appeared in OfficePro, published by IAAP. If you are an IAAP member, and have not read the book, support Bonnie by reading and discussing the book with your IAAP chapter. Start by reading the last paragraph on page 140. Practice this one concept, and prepare to amaze yourself everyday! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
