David Lee Archer writes out of the wisdom and humility gained from a life of observation, exploration, and interaction with horses and humans. He knows how to be true to himself and to be true to his horses, and in that honesty, he is able to communicate to the reader the necessity of knowing oneself-- one's abilities and limitations -- and knowing one's equine partner's abilities and limitations in order to create and maintain trust and freedom in the horse/human partnership. Mr. Archer's book alternates between explanations and photographic illustrations of his effective training techniques and the practical application of those techniques to our daily horse/human relationships. His easy, casual manner of conversation makes this book a comfortable and inspiring hiatus from the busy-ness of daily life.

I personally trained with David on my horse Cat's Avenger. We had a blast chasing cows at his place. Just like in his book, he's a very quiet man who speaks little. He makes a statement and you have to figure the rest out on your own.

Although he speaks little, he says a lot! Listen closely when David starts talking. I learned quite a bit from this man and I'll always have his book on my shelf.

You can also check out some of his video clips on YouTube if you do a search for 'Be True To Your Horse.'

David, where's that trick training book you were going to write?!

Enjoy!
