Meet the Author

Master healer and teacher Deborah King was a successful attorney in her 20s when a diagnosis of cancer sent her on a search for truth that radically changed her life. Unwilling to undergo invasive surgery, she turned to alternative medicine and experienced an amazing remission at the hands of a healer. Along the way, she conquered the alcohol and drug addictions she had used to bury an abusive childhood. Leaving the corporate arena for the mysterious world of healers, sages, and shamans, Deborah mastered ancient and modern healing systems, ultimately developing a powerful healing technique of her own.
Combining her personal history and wisdom, Deborah wrote the national bestseller Truth Heals: What You Hide Can Hurt You, which explores the powerful relationship between the suppression of painful emotions and their impact on our health and happiness.
Deborah travels worldwide, helping thousands of people transform their lives through her experiential workshops. She offers a yearlong online training course, the "21st-Century Energy Medicine Program," for those who are interested in healing themselves and others. She also hosts a popular weekly Hay House radio show.

Highly Recommend...for all energy workers, light workers get this book!

Be Your Own Shaman by Deborah King is an amazing book. It literally blew me away. I learned so much about myself and others in reading this book. I learned how to cut energetic chords to those that don't wish for my greatest joy and highest good. I became aware of a higher perception. And, believe me, I've studied Native Medicine for a long time. I love the way she offers her information by not holding back.
I recommend this book to every person who seeks knowledge of the Shaman way.

    Informative and Educational

This is a well written book in which the author, Deborah King, takes the readier through her journey as a 21st century energy master healer. The book begins by explaining Energy Medicine and gives informative tips and exercises to educate the reader how they may participate in being their own healer. It discusses how illness sometimes occurs via toxic emotions and repressed incidents through out life. The book gives practical steps to explore areas of your life in an educational and inspirational way. This informative masterpiece even delves into the history of those that have used energy healing through out time. Jesus being mentioned at the master healer is first discussed but the list is long and intriguing with a majority of them being women. Deborah King takes you on a journey through her life by beginning as a sexually abused child through becoming a lawyer diagnosed with cancer which began a thirst and desire for her search for her higher self in the role of an Energy Healer. The author studies several different styles of healing from all types of sects from Christian practice to the depths of Brazil with John of God the renowned spiritual healer. The list is long of her experiences with different techniques and the reader realizes her expertise and knowledge she has gained from them. This is a great book and is not only entertaining and easy to read but is a valuable resource for everyone in order to better themselves and open their heart and mind to learning to heal through the power of God and becoming his instrument of love and healer. I will continue to read this book over and over and no doubt will keep finding wonderful treasures to apply to my life to learn about my motivations and to heal myself of contaminated emotion and negative energy. I've learned there is also a work book that accompanies this book and I will be ordering that so I can use it with my daily meditation and study. As part of the FTC disclaimer rules I am making you aware that I received this book for free from Hay House Publishing for this review. The opinion in this review is unbiased and reflects my honest judgment of the book.

As someone who is new to the world of energy healing, I found Deborah King's book BE YOUR OWN SHAMAN a book well-worth reading. It is an excellent introduction into energy medicine and really explains it all to you, both historically and with current examples, so you have a good feel for the material when you have finished the book. Ms. King's own tragic childhood is the catalyst for why she herself entered this realm of energy healing, but it is everyone who can benefit from her learnings and teachings, whether you had a tragic or happy childhood. We all have problems to fix and ways we can all live healthier and more spiritually. And if you have any interest in practicing energy medicine and are on the fence about it at all, pick up a copy of this book today - you won't be able to put it down and you will find yourself quickly becoming a follower of Ms. King's techniques as well!

Be Your Own Shaman by Deborah King

"Be Your Own Shaman" is a recounting of the author's personal journey as she trained to become a healer or shaman. She uses her own tragic childhood stories to help the novice reader understand some of the technical language that is used. She talks freely of supernatural events that occurred while she was still a novice. And she uses her experiences while in training to help the reader get a real feel for the amount of work and dedication required to become a healer. Sprinkled amongst the pages of this amazing journey are lessons for the shaman in training.

In accordance with FTC guidelines I must disclose that I have received this book, for free, from Hay House, in exchange for writing reviews for Hay House's new book releases.

    Meh, not so much....

I learned a few things and found some of the content to be helpful. Mostly i found it to be a big infomercial for her 21 Century products.
I appreciate learning how she got to this point; through a tragic childhood of sexual abuse. But this is devulged in the beginning, why walk us through a horrific recount of an incident unneccessarily.
I finished the book hoping it could redeem itself but only more disappointment.

Sorry, I think this book reeked of ego and self endulgence.
