“Look out! Here come the beach babies!” A dozen or so babies play, build sand castles, and otherwise have fun in the sun in this chipper board book. As the day progresses, various tykes climb up and down an accommodating father buried in the sand, learn a few shapes, and show off their seaside fashion—or lack thereof (these babies “are not timid at all” writes Puck as five little streakers forgo their swimwear). Lemay’s illustrations have a casual, weathered charm, and a concluding list of activities offers ideas for parents using the book as a teaching tool. Simultaneously available: 123 Little Bugs. Up to age 4. Illustrator’s agent: MB Artists. (Apr.)
