Editorial Reviews

Amazon - Joe Perrone
The art of the short story is just that: an art! Lee Carey seems to have gotten it just right in this collection of seven brief tales about life at the beach. They are not too long, but not too short, either - just perfect for a quick, uplifting read when you've got a little time to spare. I especially enjoyed "The Unwelcome Nasty Arrival," and wonder whether there might not be a hint of truth in this confabulation that seems just a bit too realistic to be constructed solely from whole cloth. This book is a great read. The stories are fun and it's the perfect accompaniment to a day by the sea. The next time you pack up for the beach, grab the chairs, the umbrella, the cooler and the Kindle, and make sure that Beach Shorts is on the must read list.

Lee Carey writes with charm and intelligence. I thoroughly enjoyed his book Beach Shorts. Loved the final story of the dead whale washed up on the beach at Sandbridge and how true it rang with the often bumbling bureaucracy of the government at its' finest. The stories were written with humor and compassion. I look forward to exploring more books by the author.
