Mix Glowing Color Palettes to Create Stunning Jewelry

Learn to approach color as a painter does, only your palette will be rainbow-hued beads, and your paintings will be spectacular jewelry you can wear! What can I say...the photograhy (check out author's own on her website (gilbert designs), graphics, layout, hints, color theory, and designs had me captivated from the first page. All the eye candy you could want. Her pieces are dynamic. At 5'9" I dig bold, beautiful...and unique. If you are interested in color theory then you'll learn more than you can imagine...the color wheel, with its black overlays, are so helpful to isolate color schemes. My old color wheel doesn't pop the way this one does. Gilbert's sharing of personal stories attached to her pieces made me feel as though I was spending an evening in her living room 'meeting' her family and hearing about parts of her life. The pieces are ALIVE. I was intrigued by the BEADS ON METAL section. My first piece is large and clunky and I get welcome compliments whenever I wear it. The book provided me with the step-by-step pictures and guidance I needed to complete something new. Love the riveting. To be able to work with metal and to not need a torch, fire or electrical anything is way kool!!! Netting is a new stitch for me. I'm used to brick, peyote and Ndebele. I'm constantly on the hunt for sculptural and freeform beading books...and Beaded Colorways has it and then some. It has gotten me away from my perfectionist compulsion. Wait until you see how the artist takes her own photography and comes up with fabulous bead soups. My perfectionist personality makes it almost impossible for me to make one on my own, so I've purchased Gilbert's luscious offerings. (http://www.gilbertdesigns.net/shop/beadsoupcollection.html). By mixing a couple of soups or medleys together I can achieve a more personal touch. For those of you more daring beaders out there, the detailed instructions on how to make your own soups should get you started. Treat yourself and check out this valuable addition to the beading world's collection of fabulous books. My own beading library has been enriched.

This is by far the best book I have seen on color for beading. Beverly does an excellent job of showing how to mix and match colors. Her instructions on how to create a bead mix are outstanding. Plus there are the color wheels....and templates to use with them. Even the experienced beader will find this book informative, and the new beader will have a good time learned about colorways. In addition she has great tutorials on free-form beading.I am super glad I purchased this book, worth every penny. If I could give it more stars, I would.
