Beads have been a part of every culture. Beads can be made from bones, wood, seeds, stones, metal, glass, and shells. The uses have been as varied. Beads can be found everywhere: on a walk in the woods, at the beach, around the house, and, of course, at the bead store. Once the beads have been collected, the next order of business to find the materials for stringing the beads. Elastic cord, silk thread, fishing line, and dental floss are all options. There are a few specifics a beader needs to know, like certain knots and working with clasps. Nevertheless, much of beading is just experimenting with different combinations. Projects included in this collection are a leather bracelet, a choker, and beaded safety pins. Examples of beading from all over the world provide inspiration for a young beader. A beading timeline, glossary, Web links, and a list of museums rounds out this library bound primer.
