    Tons of fun ideas!

The two authors opened a cafe filled with healthy and fun meal choices for children, called Bean Sprouts. Now they also also have a cookbook, Bean Appetit, that includes recipes from their restaurant. Bean Appetit is full of brightly colored illustrations, "Table Talk" conversation starters and entertaining activities for kids, in addition to delicious recipes.

I really enjoyed the ideas in Bean Appetit for helping kids to become mini-entrepreneurs, from lemonade stands to selling bags of muffin mix or potted herbs that they started themselves. All of the meal ideas are creative and easy for kids to be a part of assembling them. The Mama Mato is a cute little mama made from tasty items like a tomato, olives, basil, cheese and spaghetti. The Pumpkin Pie Milkshake with vanilla frozen yogurt, pumpkin puree and cinnamon was one of the yummy dessert suggestions. And Campfire Crunch takes the standard snack foods -- grapes cheese, carrots and pretzel sticks -- and transforms them into a delightful snack!

Bean Appetit is not only a cookbook, but it also gives plenty of engaging ways to build a healthy culture and environment for children, starting right at home!

    terrific for picky preschoolers!

saw this book mentioned on Good Morning America - such a great approach to getting kids to trying new tastes without hiding the good-for-you ingredients (bad idea IMO). My kids are having a blast trying the fun recipes and recipe steps (i.e. making sounds like an alarm clock while making a breakfast dish). Online says appropriate for kids 7-10, I'd say more like 3-7. Yummy!!!

This book is a hit with my kids, and a book I love to give to my girlfriends who have children. The recipes are delicious and super cute!
