Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jillian Kobelin
Join nasty trolls Grunty and Grouchy as they take on new adventures in this three-in-one storybook of "The Grunt and the Grouch" series. These trolls love nothing more than slime, dirt, snot, and grime. They are messy and smelly and detest anything that is clean, fancy, or nice. In the first story, "Beastly Feast!," The Grunt and The Grouch crash a community luncheon at the local school cafeteria. In "Hairy Scary!," the trolls try to think up the perfect Halloween costumes. And in "Perfect Pet!," they hunt around town for the perfect dirty, stinky, flea-ridden pet to take home. Each story is split into four chapters for young readers. Black-and-white illustrations are used every few pages, and they either accompany the writing or serve as part of the storyline. While any adult would be sick at the descriptions Corderoy uses to depict these foul trolls, juvenile readers would likely delight in the naughty little creatures and their love of all things disgusting.
