Overview

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been a political football for years now, but as its provisions start going into effect, there’s still precious little information available on how it will impact you, your family, and your pocketbook. This 2,572 page document, nearly unreadable, will change your health care, your family budget, and innumerable aspects of your life.

But what does this law actually say?

Beating Obamacare by Betsy McCaughey, Ph.D. is the straightforward, practical guide to navigating Obamacare that every individual and family needs to own. This guide will tell you exactly what to expect, what’s changing, and how much it will cost you and your family.

In Beating Obamacare, Dr. McCaughey unravels:

  • The Obamacare Law timeline: find out when each provision of the law goes into effect, so you won’t be caught by surprise
  • The Obamacare “winners” and “losers:” who gets a free ride, and who has to pay more, so you can make sure you protect your money and get the best quality of care
  • The most controversial part of this new law—The Individual Mandate: what does it mean for the individual patient? How will it change your care?
  • The new health insurance exchange landscape: how to find the best deal available
  • The expansion of Medicaid and downsizing of Medicare: ensure your future care or the care of your elderly loved ones
  • The twenty new taxes/tax hikes that will affect you: don’t let them sneak up on your family budget
  • And much more…

Intimidated by the legal jargon? Not to worry, this guide comes fully equipped with the “Obamacare Glossary” in the back!

Beating Obamacare is the essential consumer guide to understanding and preparing for one of the biggest changes about to take over Americans’ health care and family budgets.

A masterful synthesis of analysis and explanation of Obamacare, and how it will affect you, by one of the leading voices in the healthcare debate. I am a self-employed man with single-payer health care that I am quite pleased with. Like many Americans, I have spent considerable time wondering how exactly Obama's new healthcare law will affect me when it's put fully into effect. You'd think it would be easy to find the answers, but it's not. Or it hasn't been -- until now. Dr. McCaughey has written an extremely user-friendly, easy-to-read guide for navigating the rapids we are all rafting into. What are the "health care exchanges"? How do they work? Can I keep my own coverage? Will my rates increase? Will the quality of my coverage change? What changes can we expect to Medicaid and what are the consequences to my pocketbook? Who will pay for this? What about seniors like my parents? What is the timeline for rolling out the plan? The government that passed the law has not done a very good job making the answers to these and other important questions readily available. But now, finally, Dr. McCaughey has. I recommend Dr. McCaughey's book to anyone interested to know, in plain English, how to plan for a future that will feature Obama's health care law. Dr. McCaughey has built her reputation in part by reading this (and other) complicated healthcare laws -- laws that most of us have no time or inclination to read -- and "translating" them, if you will, for the rest of us. Here she has done a marvelous and thorough job of demystifying the new health care law, and distilling it into a short, erudite volume. I find this book indispensable.

I am so grateful that I read this book. I have been so nervous even since Obama Care has passed because I am an etrepenuer and I did not know how it would effect me. Mccaughey breaks down this Affordable Care Act in a way that is so easy to understand. I know understand the regulations, effects that this will have onmy business and the steps I need to take to make sure that I am compliant. I felt like I was reading one of those "...For Dummies" books that cover a range of different topics. If she would only write a book like this for every new bill that is passed.

I know absolutely nothing about health insurance. I've always gotten it at work, and I am healthy as a horse. So when I heard that my boss might be dropping coverage for me, I bought this book. It is really simple to understand Very clear. For the first time I know what a health exchange is, and what my options will be later in the year, when the exchanges open. I am glad I bought the book. Very clear explanations. No spin. Just the facts.

EXCELLENT RESEARCH - IF ONLY THE SENATE AND HOUSE WOULD HAVE READ THE BILL BEFORE IT WAS PASSED - THEY WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED IT. Betsy did an excellent job analyzing the TERRIBLE OBAMACARE bill. Unfortunately we may be stuck with this HORRIFIC LEFT WING AGENDA called OBAMACARE. There is no "Care" in this program for Seniors if they are ill. It is obvious that the bill wants to help seniors end their lives. If you want to really understand it the best you can, then read this book. In the future I hope people will not stay quiet when these types of bills are up for a vote. If Justice Roberts had only voted against this horrific legislation then we wouldn't have to try to figure out what is really going to happen when this bill is fully explored. This bill was written to be so complicated that it would be almost totally unable to be followed. Bestsy has done a great job trying to inform readers, however, this bill was written in such a way as to allow Obama's cronies and far left liberal operatives on his cabinet to twist things any way they choose to. THIS BILL WAS A HORRIFIC LIFE ALTERING AND DANGEROUS BILL. Over the next 10 years, the hidden things will come out that are currently not visible to even the best analyst such as Betsy. EVERY ONE OF US WILL BE HORRIFIED WHEN WE SEE AND HEAR ABOUT THE HIDDEN CONSEQUENCES OF THIS BILL.

This book is simply remarkable. It's so refreshing to read something so straight-forward and fact-driven. The book is gripping from start to finish and helped me to better understand the ramifications of the Obama Health Care plan. It's definitely a must-read!

The facts were understated but stil relevant. The only people who would back "OBUMMA-CARE" are the lazy, irresponsible or illegal who are freeloading off the hardworking contributors of this country. If you want healthcare, pay for it, quit leaching off of the hardworking to get one more thing free. This book is insightful and tells it like it is.

This is just another Ultra conservative FOX NEWS or Tea Party wingnut who just can't stand the fact that Obama has passed the most important healthcare reform since FDR "IN SPITE of the Republican's attempts to water it down or block it. They are all so mad that something really good is phasing in for the American people and that making a profit for private insurance company stockholders is no longer going to determine the direction of healthcare delivery in the USA!!!!!! What a total waste of money it would be to buy this book. You don't need it. most people are already doing the right thing and providing healthcare for their families through their job. The only people that have to do any planning are the ones who have been freeloading on the rest of us, by not buying health insurance. THANK GOD there is a mandate coming.....maybe this author wants to keep subsidizing those who freeload, but I don't.
