For months, shy drummer Jinx Hardwick has been silently crushing on her tall, dark, and scary bandmate, Toombs Badcock. Drawn to his frightening ink and scars, she yearns to uncover the shadowy secrets lurking behind his silver eyes, but Jinx is too intimidated to even look at him, let alone talk to him. When she stumbles upon Toombs and their manipulative lead guitarist Rax in a compromising position, Jinx realizes her chances of winning Toombs's heart aren't just a long shot-they're nonexistent. To make matters worse, Jinx's family needs her at home. She's about to back away from it all-Toombs, the band, her dreams of fame and fortune-when Rax makes her an offer she can't refuse: a no-holds-barred night alone with Toombs. There's one small catch. She has to go through Rax to get it.

Beats is the second book in the Hard Rock Harlots Series. I highly suggest you read Strings if you haven’t already. I also highly suggest you read the warning before reading this book…

WARNING: BEATS is specially formulated for horn dogs, porn oglers, smut peddlers, BDSM junkies, M/M and M/M/F addicts, DP dabblers, body modification connoisseurs, and lovers of A2M backdoor sexy times. If you don’t fall into these categories, can’t stomach hot man-on-man action, or if you have no idea what the above acronyms mean, please back away from BEATS now. Failure to heed this warning could inadvertently throw unauthorized users into a persistent vegetative state, or at the very least, require administration of a defibrillator to the chest and/or groin area. Nobody wants that.

With that said… I loved this series. I didn’t think I could love it as much as Strings but when it ended I totally was in love with Jinx and Toombs. Jinx is a rocker girl who is quiet, sweet, lacks confidence, worries about her friends and family and is a kitten in the sack. Toombs is a badass rocker with lots of tattoos/piercings and he has a secret. Honestly I had a hard time trying to figure him out but once he opens up you just love him. Now Rax on the other hand, I don’t know if I want to punch him or kiss him he is another badass rocker with lots of ink and a filthy mouth. I actually felt sorry for him in the end. But fingers crossed the 3rd book will be about him and we will find out allot more.

I don’t like to say too much in a review of fear of giving too much away BUT I totally recommend this series if you like hot, steamy, dirty talk and hilarious books then I promise you’ll love it!!
    Great job once again Kendall!!!!

Jinx the quiet drummer of Killer Buzz Float finds her voice

Jinx the quiet drummer of Killer Buzz Float finds her voice in Beats. This love story for her and Toombs will make your heart melt. Plus you get to learn the back ground of her family and what an amazing relationship she has with her autistic brother Mikey.

She starts out so shy and quiet but finally finds away to get the man she is so head over heals in love with that she can barely breathe in his presence to accept her love.

Learning Toombs kinks that he needs to make him feel whole after one defining night with Rax and him she starts to understand the dynamics of the complicated relationship these two have had since childhood.

Jinx pulls to her inter strength to do things she didn’t think she would be able to do but comes to understand how much he needs this from her. Plus helps him get through and break away from someone very important to him since childhood.

The sex it so freakin hot in this book you will be begging to be Jinx by the end of it. And you will be running out buying a drum set.

Every time I think of this story I get goose bumps. You will not be disappointed at all.

Cant wait for the 3rd book Nocturnes.

I highly recommend reading Beats. It had my emotions on a roller coaster. I fell in love, lust, hate, agony, heartbreak, elation, I could go on and on. There were times that I wanted to scream at my Nook and then hug it. I fell in love with Jinx, after reading her story I would love to hang out with her. The love she has for her brother Mikey shows that she has a heart of gold. Jinx showed that sometimes the quiet girls have more depth than anyone thinks. Kendall Grey is my favorite author and she pours her heart into her books.

Oh Kendall oh Kendall oh Kendall, this is serious this book. Seriously amazing!! I thought Strings was good but Beats is soo soo much better! I'm not going to repeat what the synopsis says but it's exactly what it says. Beats had so much more to bring than Strings. I found myself almost on the verge of tears with this book and this one is much deeper and personal than Strings. Don't worry Letty and Shades come back but Jinx and Toombs' story is more in depth. Definitely get this one! You won't be disappointed.

    Hard Rock Harlots strike again!

Beats picks up where Strings left off only to find Jinx as our storyteller instead of the imfamous Letty. Kendall Grey you did not disappoint. Read this one but do heed the warning. While not for the faint of heart the balls out Hard Rock Harlots series is like no other.

First off, you gotta love a book that comes with a warning. I fell for the first book in this series, Strings, because of the warning.
Beats takes up the reigns where Strings left us dangling like the poor lost souls that we are without the wise words from Letty, the band's singer, to guide us. I want to be best friends with Letty, by the way. The words that come out of her mouth would make a sailor blush... Which means that I've totally stolen some of her phrases. I admit it. When I'm not online, I curse with every other word. It's fun and it drives my mother insane. Win-win situation there. :)

Jinx is in love with Toombs. We've all been there, fallen for the bad boy (I got to keep mine, yay!). It's fun, but comes with a lot of drama. Dramas new name is Rax Wrathbone. Somethings going on between him and Toombs and it makes Jinx want to stay out of the mix because all she wants is Toombs. Speaking of, there is a t-shirt with this quote on it. I want it. I need it. I'm poor. Seriously. I saved a $5 gift card that I won on another book site almost two months ago to buy this book so if anyone wants to do me a solid, I wear a size large.

The series Hard Rock Harlots is raunchy, lustful, and guaranteed to make you change your panties at least once. It isn't your usual 'dirty book' because it has a story behind it. Even as you rub one out for yourself you can't help falling in love with the characters. I could talk for hours about this book, but I won't. I'd give too much away.

"I am control and force and beats. I'm the foundation of the band, the solid surface on which all notes depend, the spark that ignites dancing feet and fist pumps."

I enjoyed the story of Letty and Shades but I have to say, Jinx and Toombs took this series to another level. Jinx is not just the quiet, shy drummer we met in Strings. I knew Toombs had secrets and that his story would be twisted, but I had no idea that Jinx would be so complicated herself. Together they make one explosive story of love, jealousy, insecurity, lust and the power of music.

Rax continues to be a selfish, manipulative bastard. It appears to be his mission in life to keep Toombs and Jinx from finding love in each other. I'm not sure I have ever wanted to punch a fictional character in the face so much. Toombs struggles to balance his feelings for Jinx and his loyalty to Rax. My emotions were constantly swinging between wanting to scream at him to snap out of it and feeling an ache in my heart for him.

Letty helps bring Jinx out of her shell and it is incredibly fun to watch her explore her wild side. Turns out Jinx is more of a badass than I thought. In true Killer Buzz Float fashion, this story is both heartbreaking and hilarious. The writing is fantastic. The sarcasm and witty banter drips off the pages. This story is absolutely filthy, in the fabulous way we've come to expect from Kendall. If you liked Strings, you will love Beats.

    Drummers do it best...

Book two in this insane saga (and I mean that in a good way...) was probably my favorite! You can't help but fall in love with Jinx and Toombs. Toombs is frighteningly hot! Who knew all the kinky stuff you could do with a drum kit and piercings?! Kendall Grey is a totally twisted individual with a ginormous sense of humor. The situations that would mortify most of the planet's population, she manages to make endearing and fun to experience – even if it’s only while reading this over the top book! All in all, this series seriously rocks!

The second in her Hard Rock Harlots series, Beats has even more

The second in her Hard Rock Harlots series, Beats has even more raw fury and power distilled into creatively crafted phrases and dips into the psyche of two characters who were more often relegated to the back of the stage in book one.  Again, I will start with the warning – Kendall Grey has very carefully placed a “do not read this if” directly in the book information.  You should read it. And if THAT makes you squirm – read no further.  You don’t want this title.

But, for those of you who read Strings and enjoyed it: who appreciated the tongue-in-cheek approach to the characters that still managed to incorporate readability and reality into their never-ending pheromone festival, read on.

Jinx was the quieter one, more shy and retiring than Letty, she is a never-ending ball of energy behind her drum kit, with eyes for only one man.  Toombs had managed to be the mostly strong, menacing and silent type throughout Strings, scarred and tattooed there is a mystery behind his silver eyes, just not one that many will broach his menacing exterior to explore.  Jinx has held this fascination for Toombs as a closely guarded secret, yet Letty can see the attraction and will do what she feels is necessary to warn Toombs away from her girl.  Add to that Jinx’s musical block, a funk she just can’t get past to move forward, so saddened by the fact that her love is unrequited.

But, it seems that all is for naught when Jinx witnesses a shocking scene involving Toombs and Rax, with her own family issues and concerns around her brother tearing at her loyalties, she is convinced that her dreams are best left behind: fame, rock and roll, fortune, touring, Toombs and drumming.

So many elements combine in this story:  Jinx’s revelations and backstory about her family, her relationship with an autistic brother, Toomb’s issues and the discovery of the curiously convoluted relationship that he and Rax have had for years.  All of these myriad pieces all seem to slowly fit into the larger puzzle, giving unexpected and nuanced layers to the characters.  The sexual scenes are still very raw and super steamy, some dirty talk and more taboo activities are mixed with BDSM that is far from the ordinary sweeter portrayals in the genre.

I really did enjoy this installment, although there were times that the language (for it is VERY dirty and laugh inducing in the combinations) served as a buffer that dulled the emotional impact of the very real, and very sad revelations from the characters.  These are character stories that are loaded with pathos, and I would have better received that impact were it left to speak longer, and not buried.  Yet, this was only a minor scuffle for me, as every moment seems to both seek to hide and honor those life-wounds, feeling very honest and genuine reactions from these characters.

This is a book that needs you to have read the first to fully gain appreciation for the second, Grey builds each character from the initial introduction and their growth is evident as the stories move forward.  If you are looking for something out of the norm, are not disturbed by dirty language and physicality that stretches the boundaries of most people’s “normal”, this is a series you want to RUN to grab.

I received an Arc copy from the author, and then bought my own copy of the title for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

For this one, I'm doing a combined review for all three in the series - Strings, Beats, and Nocturnes. I downed these three books in the space of 3 1/2 days! Once I started I couldn't stop! I am a bit ashamed to say it took me so flipping long to get started with the series, but honestly, I'm glad I waited so I could read them all in one go.

Fair warning- READ the warning of the synopsis for each first! Not kidding, these may not be your cup of tea. Go in with open eyes. With that said, I loved them! They are raunchy, they push the limits and may stretch your boundaries. There's so much to each story that goes beyond the naughty bits into finding acceptance and love, not giving up on your dreams, and finding that other half that may be broken like you but makes you both whole when two broken pieces come together. I loved the weaving in of the musical aspect into that which each character of the books is experiencing.

The writing was intoxicating. I found myself completely involved in the stories of Shades and Letty, Toombs and Jinx, Rax and Eve. It seemed like each one was just that much better than the last. There's lots of laughs, a ton of sex, and some very sweet and heart-wrenching moments. Kendall Grey is an extremely talented writer who can paint a picture with words and draw out both huge highs and deep lows on an emotional roller coaster ride that her characters experience. And man does she make me want to be a groupie for Killer Buzz Float so I can stay with the group a little longer. And somehow, in the end, Kendall made me fall in love with Rax...smh...didn't think it was possible! I loved this series and will definitely be reading more from Kendall Grey!

Book two in the Hard Rock Harlots series was a little more in my

Book two in the Hard Rock Harlots series was a little more in my wheel house than Strings.  It had a little more of the darkness that I tend to be drawn to.  Not a lot though, and definitely nothing that overshadows the smuttiness of the book.  This review may be a bit spoilery if you haven't read Strings.

Beats is Jinx/Gianna story.  For those of us who have read Strings we know that she has a bit of a thing for Toombs and that he might be interested in her as well.  However we also know that there is something between Toombs & Rax.  Letty knows that Jinx is into Toombs and decides to 'coach' her in the ways of winning over a man.  I'm sure that you can imagine the kind of advice that Letty would dispense.  It is all pretty hilarious, but there is actually a lot of great advice laced in with the crazy.  Quite honestly this book would have been far too intense without Letty's comic interludes.

Jinx is pretty shy and a little insecure, especially in relation to Letty.  But seriously, who wouldn't be!?  She is more reserved and shy.  She seems to have a gentle and caring soul.  She is the kind of girl that you want to be your best friend.  She is going to be there to help you no matter what, but in private she is going to have some wild sex tips for you.  Who doesn't want a friend like that!?

Toombs is nearly silent most of the time.  Rax is definitely the mouthpiece of their duo.  However the more that we get to know of Toombs, it is quite apparent that what you see is definitely not what you get with him.  I don't want to say more for fear of leaking spoilers.

I really wanted to hate Rax, and there were times that I almost did, but I couldn't quite drop over the precipice of hatred for him.  It is quite evident that he has a whole mess of his own problems to deal with beyond the relationship with Toombs, but that is a whole other story, better left to tell at a different time.

The plot of Beats almost exclusively deals with the private lives of Jinx, Toombs, & Rax.  There are little bits of the band and the tour thrown in but it was not the driving force as much as it was in Strings.  There was so much story to tell with just that there was really no need for anything more.  We did get to see a little bit of Jinx' family, which also helped propel the relationships forward, and it was nice to get to see a little glimpse of what Jinx' 'real' life was like.

By the time that I was done with the book I felt like I had a pretty good grasp on Jinx.  She was fabulous.  I really would like to be her friend, not even joking.  I would have liked to know more about Toombs.  We got little glimpses here and there but I wanted more, what can I say, I'm greedy!!

Beats is another hot read.  Definitely not for the faint of heart.  If you read the warning and have any thought of being offended, back away quickly.  For you other dirty smut-fans pick this up, it is a really well written plot-driven smut novel.  It isn't really a cliffhanger, we know exactly where all of the relationships end, but there is definitely huge question marks concerning one of the characters.

It all started with 'Strings'. Now the story continues in 'Beats'. Kendall Grey's writing is fast-paced, witty, and full of naughtiness. There has been no other series that has kept me reading continually until I reached the end (and then promptly started all over again). Highly recommended for book sluts everywhere.

Great Read - Not for the faint of heart!

A great folllw up to Strings! I love Toombs. Jinx and Toomb's story is a total rollercoaster ride that takes twists and turns in so many unexpected ways. As usual, I enjoyed Kendall Grey's raw and "no holds barred" style of writing. Fasten your seatbelt and make sure the person sitting next to you reading over your shoulder in the plane is prepared .... ha ha ha.
