Overview

Led by formerBang Tango frontman Joe Leste, the Beautiful Creatures' debut disc is a non- sentimental journey that connects the attributes of commercial rock with the sonic muscle of contemporary heavy metal. The Beautiful Creatures overwhelming appeal lies in their command of traditional pop
ock songcraft bolstered by expert musicianship. Cuts including "1 A.M.," "Wasted," "New Orleans," and "Goin' Off" encapsulate the qualities that catapulted L.A. Sunset Strip glam to the top of the charts in the '80s: guitar licks a descendent of Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin, hooky singalong choruses, and lyrics that depict the decadent side of life with a tinge of sensitivity. Yet this disc is far from a nostalgia trip. The dueling guitars of DJ Ashba and Anthony Focx draw from grunge, avant-garde and traditional blues without a wasted note or meandering off into self-indulgent solos. Bassist Kenny Kweens tastefully employs five-string, lower-register riffs that complement drummer Glen Sobel's relentless four/four hammering. Sean Beavan's simple live-in-the-studio production approach is a perfect fit for this veteran ensemble. "Kicking for Days" displays a flair for the dramatic when the bridge melts into an ethereal half-time groove, and the ballad "Wish" is a romantic tearjerker worthy of countless cigarette lighter tributes. The songs found on this self-titled first offering would be praiseworthy in any genre. That Beautiful Creatures chose heavy metal suggests that hope springs eternal: maybe melody and skill will once again win over concocted attitudes, flash-in-the-pan guitar heroics and pretty haircuts.

WHAT CAN I SAY, THIS CD IS ONE OF THE MOST ROCK DRIVEN CD'S IN QUITE SOME TIME. BEAUTIFUL CREATURES HAVE A CHEMISTRY AND A SOUND THAT STRAYS AWAY FROM THE NOW SATURATED ''ROCK-RAP'' FORMULA. THE CD ITSELF WASTES NO TIME LETTING YOU KNOW WHAT BEAUTIFUL CREATURES ARE HERE TO DO , ROCK!

A longhaired headbanger from way back, I've been collecting all the old hair bands I can before they're extinct. It was real cool to hear of a new band hanging on to those roots with a bit of a new twist. Lets see some more come up! A great album!

Beautiful Creatures new album has got to be one of the best debut albums to come out in a while. Some say they have the sound of Guns n Roses, Vanhalen, or ACDC The whole Cd consists of hard rock n roll(Kickin for days or step back) to a soft ballet(wish or time and time again)!! This is one of those CD where you can listen to it all the way through without skipping a song! you will love it!

Really, does it get any better than Beautiful Creatures? All in ONE band you have 4 (soon to be 5) of the greatest guys with remarkable talent! What more could you ask for besides MORE?! With kickin' rock n' roll to get you partying all night with these guys either in your stereo or on your stage, you'll need nothing else to get you going! It's pure fun and excitement with these guys that you'll find you can't POSSIBLY get better than Beautiful Creatures! ~Ant1banana

wow.....to think i picked this from a "pick another selection, out of yours" coupon from my music club, based solely on the cover art. it was 2 a.m. and i was sitting at the computer,i looked over and slipped the cd out of the music clubs packaging and into the cd player at my desk ,at the start i thought ,just another loud, playing 3 chords too fast.......til i heard the hooky chorus from song to song, extremely shocked, and am wearing it out as the day goes on. relly....go out and try them on for size,,,,JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
