They created the game but eighteen year old Nicholas Grayson mastered the rules.

They are young and entitled and utterly bored with their lives, so they play games to entertain themselves. They call it the “bet” and new girl Ellie Holbrook is their latest target. Ellie is not the kind of girl Nicholas dates, but she is pretty enough to be his next conquest and so he sets out to seduce her and claim a nice little prize at the end. But her seduction proves difficult when she openly rejects his advances. In his dogged pursuit of her he slowly finds himself in her small circle of trusted friends and meets her two year old daughter, Sophie.

Life takes a startling turn for Nicholas when he realizes his happiness now lies with the young mother and her daughter. Falling in love with Ellie isn’t something Nicholas ever thought could happen to him and he’s completely frightened at how fiercely she makes him feel. But before he can further examine those emotions and clearly process them, enemies from Nicholas’s personal circle of friends conspire to tear them apart and he must now decide whether their love is worth saving or allow his friends to take away the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him.

    So badly written

I hate to write bad reviews, in fact I usually only comment if I love a book but I was so annoyed with this one I had to warn others off paying money for it. I loved the idea (bad boy falls for a mother and her baby, becomes better in the process) only this stories "sadistic" bad boy went from total jerk to totally reformed in the span of a page AND the writer didn't even show us how. All the sudden he's being nice and falling in love it without any real reason as to how. I couldn't even finish the thing and I finish EVERYTHING. Also, for whatever it's worth, it annoys me that they ripped off the title of a MUCH better book.

    Beautiful Disaster

    5 Stars

    Author:  Francette Phal

    Book one, Ellie And Nicholas.

The book introduces us to Nicholas and his group of friends.

Now Nicholas is our leading man, he is, tall, dark and mysterious and he holds a deep dark secret within himself, one that he tries to ignore.

Nicolas likes to play a game called "The bet", now this isn't a nice game by any means, it all involves sex and money, lots of sex.

But as he takes his latest bet his life takes a startling turn for him when he realizes his happiness lies with the young mum and her little girl.

    Should he take the bet?

The latest bet involves our Ellie and Nicholas.

But he is completely frightened at how fiercely Ellie makes him feel but before he can even process his emotions, his friends conspire to tear them apart and Nicholas must make the choice as to whether their love is worth saving or to allow his friends to rip away the greatest thing that has ever happened to him.

When Ellie appears at her new school, her first impression of Nicholas doesn't mean much to her, he's popular and knows it, while she tries to keep her head down she can't help but be drawn to him and his stormy grey green eyes.

She first gets introduced to Nicholas when her car breaks down and she has to wait for the tow truck guy.

Nicholas pulls up beside her on his bike and offers her ride home which at first she declines but the rumble of thunder and rain soon has doubting this choice.

But Ellie is not all as she seems, she is also hiding something deep inside of her, her daughter and how it happened.
A past Ellie does not want find out so she keeps herself closed off from people to keep the hurt away.

Ellie does not trust easy and who can blame the poor girl?

She should be out being a normal teenage girl, instead she works two jobs, goes to school and raises her beautiful daughter, Sophie, she has no idea that her world is about to be turned upside down by one dark and brooding Nicholas.

I absolutely love Ellie and Sophie and I was shouting at her not to fall for the beautiful Nicholas and his charms but you can't really blame her for falling for him, I just hoped that she doesn't get her heart broken.

You do get drawn into these characters lives, you feel their heartbreak, their pain, the utter devastation of the choices the decide upon, it's not just their lives everyone gets involved so neither of them get the space they need to figure it all out.

Ellie holds all her cards close to her chest, she distrusts everyone now due to Tony.
You see Tony was her everything, her first lover, dealer, rapist and her first abuser.

She lived a strict life, she was a bishops daughter, so the first time she meant Tony she believed she had found love.

It had been a psychedelic night, sexually charged music.
    She felt liberated.
She acted like a whore of Babylon, danced like one of the Dionysus nymphs.

    She felt sexy, desirable.
So when Tony approached her, led her to his car and took her to his loft, she had been all to willing.

So after months of abuse Ellie found the courage to leave, to protect her unborn baby.

She does what any teenager would do, she goes home to her mum, but the welcome she got when she told her parents that she was pregnant was not quite what she expected!

"How can you be so stupid? Fifteen, Eleanor! You're only fifteen!"

Now this part here had me recoiling from the venom in her mothers voice, my heart broke for poor Ellie here, all she wanted was the comfort from her mother, but her mother recoiled from her touch, the look in her hazel eyes telling her of the aching disappointment she felt.

Now that look had hurt more than anything Ellie could have experienced.

So a pregnant Ellie moved in with her uncle Gabe and raises Sophie there.

This is when Nicholas gets involved with Ellie and her daughter.

Nicholas was not expecting to have these feelings for Ellie, it had become than just a bet now, he liked her and loved her little girl and these thoughts scared him.

He couldn't hurt Ellie, she wasn't just another bet to him, she was something more, something that made him feel like a human being again ,made him forget all the bad.
She brought the best out him, she could see the good inside of him that couldn't see and he was determined to keep her safe, no matter the cost.

But things go from good to bad, Nicholas gets close to Ellie, she trust hims, opens up to him,
and all comes crashing down around her, she doesn't know where to turn!

    What will Nicholas do?
    What will Ellie do?

    Will they overcome everything?

Read this book or miss out on great story.

Yes it's full of heartbreak but its also full of love and happiness.

Yes it has tears and sorrow but it also has happy times and fond memories.

A fantastic read and plot, it draws you in completely  until you think your own heart is being ripped up or over flowing with joy!!

    I loved it!

    Review

First off, I want to say that it’s a shame that such a good book had so many grammatical/spelling errors. I’m not sure Beautiful Disaster ever saw an editor. With that being said, I still enjoyed the book and I’ll read the sequel (here’s to hoping that one is better edited).

When I sat down to start this review, I was sure that I was going to give it a rave review. Now that I’m writing it, I’m not so sure. There was so much going on in the book that it bordered on too much. I did like the book, though. I might not be 100% sure why, but I did like it.

Beautiful Disaster is a real page turner. I was hooked from the very beginning. It was a fun and emotional roller coaster. There was even a little bit of sexy time in the book (not enough for me to consider it erotica, but some might).

There’s also some things that I just didn’t like. It just really bothers me whenever we’re presented with supposedly smart characters that do incredibly dumb things. Ellie is supposed to be a smart girl, right? She’s been through so much with having a child and all. Well, why in the hell didn’t she insist on Nicky using a condom?! Doesn’t she know how that first baby happened? Even better, Nicky apparently doesn’t use a condom with any of his conquests. Ew ew ew. Gross. I also had a few other problems, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I will say they were problems with Gabe being too overprotective and Nicky’s Dad. Like I said before, it bordered on too much for one book.

In general, I liked the book and I plan on reading the sequel.

How could anyone give this book a 5 or 4 star. This is the worst. Book. I ended up skimming this book. Everyone is so messed up in the head. The ending...that is not an ending. This book is on a whole nother planet from the movie Cruel Intensions. Why bring babies into it. That's a whole nother shade of sick. The original Beautiful Disaster was awesome. This book doesn't even deserve a star.

“I won’t let you leave me, not after finding you, Ellie. Don’t tell me it’s over when the only thing I have ever believed in is you and me. You’re the very thing that keeps me sane and grounded. The love between us, its’ binding and I can’t let it go….I can’t let you go.”
    ~ Nicholas Grayson

What do you get when you put Cruel Intentions, A Bronx Tale and Revenge all together? Beautiful Disaster! Throughout the entire story you are entangled in a web of lies and deceit. You manage to find strength and to see the good through the bad.
Nicholas Grayson goes to school with other young, entitled teenagers go. What do the rich kids do to entertain themselves with their boring, privileged lives? They make “bets” and like to watch other’s suffer and be humiliated. His mother ignores him and his father doesn’t care what he does so long as it doesn’t cause problems for the Grayson name. What is a teenage boy to do? Use women, lots and lots of women only to turn around and humiliate them.
Ellie Holbrook has had a troubled past and has overcome many adversities, especially at her age. She fell head over heels in love with Tony Carlyle. Tony was a charmer, could talk his way into your heart and pant, he is also a drug dealer. He got Ellie hooked on heroin and then got her pregnant, wanting to do the right thing by her child, she leaves Tony after he beats her to a pulp. Her parents disowned her and kicked her out. Her Uncle Gabe took her in and helped out as she sobered up, got back on the right path and became the best mom to her daughter Sophie. Ellie has no room in her life for silly high school nonsense, she just wants to graduate and make a great life for her and her daughter.
Nicholas takes on a new bet, one that has to do with Ellie. Ellie knows guys like Nicholas and doesn’t fall for his games. Nicholas realizes there is more to Ellie than meets the eye and he starts to feel things he never thought would be possible, not only that he wants to be both Ellie and her daughter’s future. Together they discover a friendship, the definition of a family and what the meaning of true love is really all about. Unfortunately others have plans to end the happiness for both Ellie and Nicholas and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. Truths are told, pasts are uncovered and sometimes you have to walk away from what you need to save the ones you want and love the most.
Ellie and Nicholas’s journey is challenging, fun, loving, and heartbreaking all at the same time. The characters are all fantastic. I can’t wait to see what happens with Ellie and Nicholas in book #2 titled Redemption (The Bet #2) available now!
Francette Phal is definitely an author to watch!
