Book one of the Island of Defiance Trilogy was really well written. The scenes felt real, and the emotions did too. There are no actual sex scenes, but there are some romance scenes. The scenery was fantastic, and the dialogue was very well done. You could tell which character is which by the tone given from the dialogue. I've not ran across that too often! The plot is very well thought out, and the idea behind the book definitely had me thinking after I put the book down. There were some points

I have a niece and we started to play a game, whereby I pick something for her to read and she picks something for me. Yes, you guessed it. She picked this book and surprisingly, I enjoyed it. It wasn't overly predictable like the Harry Potter books nor was it horribly written like the Twilight series. The plot was original, the writing was impeccable and the book gave my niece and I something to talk about. I would highly recommend this book and not just for tweens but all age groups!
