Overview

Falyn Fairchild can walk away from anything. Having already left her car, her education, and even her parents, the daughter of the next governor of Colorado is back in her hometown, broke and waiting tables for the Bucksaw Café. After every shift, Falyn adds to her shoebox of cash, hoping to one day save enough to buy her a plane ticket to the only place she can find forgiveness: Eakins, Illinois.

The moment Taylor Maddox is seated in Falyn's section at the Bucksaw, she knows he's trouble. Taylor is charming, breaks promises, and gorgeous even when covered in filth-making him everything Falyn believes a hotshot firefighter to be. Falyn isn't interested in becoming another statistic, and for a Maddox boy, a disinterested girl is the ultimate challenge.

Once Falyn learns where Taylor calls home, everything changes. In the end, Maddox persistence is met with Falyn's talent for leaving, and for the first time, Taylor may be the one to get burned.

I am utterly speechless right now...HOLY SMOKES! I absolutely loved the story of Falyn and Taylor.  Jamie McGuire has a way of making her characters so complex and irresistible that you become so emotionally invested in the story and its characters.  I literally couldn't put the book down until the very last page.  Beautiful Sacrifice is definitely going to be a reread for me. There is no doubt that Taylor Maddox will light your fire, because he sure lit mine!

This was such a ride! Falyn was frustrating at times, but in the end, I loved her spirit and was so happy for her. Taylor was endearingly persistent and super sexy. I loved how I could picture him covered in soot. Beautiful, heartwrenching, and all around lovely story!!

How she continues to create such beautifully believable stories, I don't know. Jamie continues to be one of my faves! And who doesn't love a Maddox boy??!!

I don't see this as a love story at all. It turns my stomach...

Of course Jamie McGuire cannot write a bad story! And of course nothing can usually be as good as the first book, but Taylor Maddox is so likeable. My only suggestion is that the author makes these books longer. This was better than Thomas’ story in that there was more of the guy’s point-of-view. Read this book after Beautiful Oblivion and Beautiful Redemption, otherwise, there are spoilers.

I don`t like this book.  Falyn left her baby behind and is now suffering. Taylor has a baby with someone else and she gives this baby away too. Where is romance in this??

Jamie McGuire has done it again. I loved this book and have fallen in love with Taylor and Falyn. This book hits pretty close to home with the situations that I stubble with in my life right now. I guess I should take a leap (or hop) of faith. Thank you Jamie Mcguire for this story

I seem to be having trouble putting this review together and at first I couldn't figure out why. The only thing that makes sense is that it has left me speechless. The title fits in perfectly several times throughout the book and I won't give anything away but it truly is a beautiful story. If you follow Falyn and Taylor's beliefs, everything happens for a reason. Even when you think there's no future, miracles happen. IMO this story and it's characters are most like Abby and Travis. Once you read it I think you'll understand. -...that helpless feeling when you lose someone. No matter how much you love someone, you can't bring them back. No matter how much you scream or drink or beg or pray...a hole was created when they left. It burns and rots you from the inside out..."

The more I meet the Maddox family, the more I fall in love. The only mystery was Faylin's connection to Taylor's home town, but I guessed it had to do with a child she left behind. The love - hate connection between them was sometimes overdone, but it was well worth watching how theybsurvived.

The third installment in The Maddox Brothers series, McGuire's spin-off of her wildly popular Beautiful series, centers around hotshot fireman Taylor Maddox and waitress Falyn Fairchild. Fair warning to diehard fans of the Beautiful series, while the storyline runs concurrent to Beautiful Disaster/Walking Disaster don't expect to read more than snippets here and there from Travis and Abby's story. U.S. Forest Service hotshot crewman Taylor Maddox isn't your average firefighter. For starters, he fights wildfires. He saws through fallen timber and digs fire lines. He hikes for miles with a huge pack and loads of equipment. He's on the job seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, and he travels to wherever the fire is. He's also a bit of a manwhore who isn't used to being shot down. So when he meets a beautiful waitress at the Bucksaw Café who has no desire in becoming another notch on his bedpost, he takes her disinterest as a personal challenge—Maddox boys just aren't told no very often. Falyn Fairchild has proven that she can walk away from anything. Against all reason and fears, she'd liberated herself from her wealthy, controlling parents who she had allowed to make one too many decisions for her. And after five years of dealing with grief and guilt on her own terms, she's broke and waiting tables at the Bucksaw Café. After every shift, she adds to her shoebox of cash, hoping to one day save enough money to buy a plane ticket to the only place where she can find closure: Eakins, Illinois. The moment Taylor is seated in Falyn's section at the Bucksaw, she knows he’s trouble. Even covered in soot smeared with a day’s worth of sweat it's ridiculous how good-looking he is. He has all the makings of an underwear model, and he knows it. But like every self-respecting local girl knows, the men who blow through Colorado Springs with a dusting of ash on their boots are only to be admired from afar—they're seasonal and they'll leave you behind, pregnant or heartbroken. But once Falyn learns where the gorgeous firefighter calls home, everything changes. It couldn’t just be a coincidence that the guy who'd taken an interest in her was from Eakins, Illinois. And for the first time, Taylor may be the one to get burned. Beautiful Sacrifice is a well-written read, but unfortunately contained one too many elements that were a total turnoff for me. For starters, I found it difficult to envision Taylor as the firefighter hero he was meant to be when he was simultaneously the very definition of a manwhore. Although, in the beginning, Fayln wasn't much better. She was essentially using Taylor to get him to take her to Eakins, Illinois. Admittedly, her character grew on me once I learned her "secret", but unlike Falyn, I could never have forgiven Taylor his trespasses. I've occasionally been accused of having a pottymouth, but I actually found the excessive use of profanity throughout the book complete overkill. And though the story ends with an HEA, it was semi-satisfying at best.

Falyn is one tough woman and when her secrets were revealed coupled with the challenges she has faced, well, my opinion of her grew. She grew up with wealthy parents that focus on appearances so when her life deviates from their desired plan, she has to choose to stay and be someone she isn't deep down or break away and forge her own path. This ends up putting her in Taylor Maddox's path as he works as a Hotshot on the wildfires. Taylor is a love'em and leave'em guy, he's never had a relationship but there is something about Falyn that intrigues him and pushes him to pursue her. She knows his type and isn't looking for a relationship; can they just enjoy a summer together? Of course, there is a great twist when Falyn learns where Taylor is from which is very intriguing as he becomes a way for her to tackle something in her life if he will take her to his hometown. I wasn’t prepared for that secret at all. This is not an easy journey and they both make mistakes (though Taylor is a total dork), can they forgive each other? Can they face their fears and embrace something brighter than either ever expected to find? Totally worth finding out!

I absolutely love the Maddoxes!! This story is about Taylor and Falyn. It's your typical Maddox story with boy finding girl, girl hating boy, girl falling in love with boy, boy falling in love with girl and won't let her go. I love this series and it all started with Beautiful Disaster! I wouldn't mind seeing the other point of view with this series like with Walking Disaster. I could read about these boys all day, everyday. Thank you for another great book!!! You Rock!!
