Bebop & Bird, Vol. 2

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Stephen Cook
For their second volume of prime Charlie Parker sides, Rhino dips into the alto great's Dial and Verve sessions for a varied and top-notch set. The 16-track offering takes in Parker's Hollywood stint "Relaxin' at Camarillo," "Cool Blues", some Latin-tinged cuts "My Little Suede Shoes", and a few string orchestra numbers "Rocker," "Laura". Topped off with excellent support work from Erroll Garner, Wardell Gray, Dodo Marmarosa, Barney Kessel, Howard McGhee, and Max Roach, Bebop and Bird, Vol. 2 makes for a fine way to get familiar with Parker's monumental catalog.
