This book is very well-written by a career soldier. The story feels real as do the characters. Ms. Scott clearly either understands survivors' guilt by having lived it or she has done an outstanding job with her research.
The back story about Trent looks like it will be just as good, and I can't wait to read it.
A side note to those (like me) who find grammar and typos an aggravating distraction: Ms. Scott knows how to write, and she knows how to type.

I would classify this more as a military themed drama with romantic elements. Well written and emotional.

I love this book. This was one of the most realistic looks at what wounded soldiers deal with when they return home. This was also a great love story.

I love finding both new authors and new-to-me authors. I¿ve talked to Jessica Scott on twitter for a while and even got to meet her at RWA in Orlando in 2010 (ran into her at a book signing while in line together). When Jessica announced her book would be released in the revived Loveswept line, I knew I had to read this story. I pre-ordered Because of You for my kindle as soon as there was a release date.
I absolutely loved Because of You! Both Jen and Shane are such strong characters. Jen is a breast cancer survivor who finally starts to feel like a woman again after meeting and kissing Shane. Shane has always put his men first, even about himself. He meets Jen the day before he and his men are scheduled to deploy to Iraq. They share one amazing kiss, that neither one is able to forget the other once Shane is deployed. When Shane is injured and sent home, Jen is one of the nurses who care for him daily. The attraction is still there after all this time, and only grows as they spend day after day together. Shane is one of those super strong men who don¿t like to rely on anyone. However, his injuries leave him no choice, and Jen is more than happy to care for him.
Jen find herself getting stronger each day as she cares for Shane. She also starts to feel like a woman again for the first time since she first lost a breast to cancer. In fact, her battle helps her be able to help Shane move forward with his recovery. The attraction between Shane and Jen just gets stronger with each passing day, and they were so hot together when they finally gave into their attraction.
Jessica Scott has an amazing voice and made it easy for me to feel both the pain and the joy from her characters. I loved so many of the characters from Because of You, but especially Jen's best friend Laura. We get to read all about Laura and her husband Trent in Jessica's next book. The second book in her Coming Home series, Back to You is set for release from Loveswept in February 2012, and I¿ll again pre-order as soon as it¿s available.

Jessica Scott wronte a heart renching story...I've never been one to read about war heroes or actively involved in anything like that, so this was a change for me and all I can say is WOW! What a great story, with wonderful characters that are all appealing in their own way and broken. Its just so good, hope that we will see more of them in the future. I was very pleased! Please buy it, its a wonderful love story.

From the war-torn streets of Baghdad to the bittersweet comforts of the home front, two wounded hearts navigate the battlefield of coming home from war in this explosive eBook original from newcomer Jessica Scott.
Keeping his men alive is all that matters to Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison. But meeting Jen St. James the night before his latest deployment makes Shane wonder if there’s more to life than war. He leaves for Iraq remembering a single kiss with a woman he’ll never see again—until a near fatal attack lands him back at home and in her care.
Jen has survived her own brush with death and endured its scars. And yet there’s a fire in Shane that makes Jen forget all about her past. He may be her patient, but when this warrior looks her in the eyes, she feels—for the first time in a long time—like a woman. Shane is too proud to ask for help, but for Jen, caring for him is more than a duty—it’s a need. And as Jen guides Shane through the fires of healing, she finds something she never expected—her deepest desire.
Review:
Well, hell, where to really begin with this. This book was a quick read and while at times it had my attention, there were others that seemed like it was just "filling" in to bump up the main story. The plot of this story really didn't hold my attention too well and I found the relationship between the two characters lacking. There were just several pieces of the puzzle that were missing from the descriptions of the injuries to both the lead characters, down on to the actual investigation that was rolling through out. I felt as though the book was tied up at the end entirely too quickly and left way too many questions unanswered. While I understand this book may be part of a series, the ending still needed some work.
Other than that, there were a lot of humorous parts that had me laughing out loud and while I wished for more details in the story, I will still give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
good weekend book, different book then most

Because of You: A Loveswept Contemporary Military Romance by Jessica Stott
4 STARS
It really fits the time. I feel so grateful for all the military that they have done for us.
The story was good and made me feel for the characters. Their were a lot of love scenes and swearing in this book.
It starts in a bar the night before they Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison goes to keep his men out of trouble. He is hiding that he just had his appendix taken out.
Captain Trent Davila is his friend even though he is not to now that he had rank.
Carponti is a loose canon. Always cracking joikes and causing trouble.
Jen St. James is at the bar with Laura Davila. Jen is a nurse and dealing with the lost of a breast.
Laura is saying goodby to her husband again this is the 5th time he has deployed. He is always gone for any occasions even both of his childrens birth.
Lieutenant Jason Randall is a terrible officer and no one likes him. He has rank and thinks he is special because his father is a brigade commander at Fort Carson.
This story gives a hint of what goes on with deployment and those who are left behind. Also a hint of the trials that being wounded or seeing those around you dying.
I do want to know what happens next in the story with some of the characters..
I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.
