Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joan Elste
Beck, the animal-talent fairy in this "Stepping Stone Series" can communicate with all the creatures of Never Land. She lives in the very heart of Never Land where Mother Dove, who lives high up in the branches of the Home Tree, is the source of all its magic. One day Beck meets a friendly boar in the woods who tells her he is on his way to the western end of the Never Land forest where truffles taste like clouds dipped in joy, a place she has never seen. The boar invites her to come with him, but she explains that the fairy dust she is allowed, only one cup, would not take her that far. Without it she would not be able to fly. A flock of Explorer Birds happens to fly in for a brief visit and asks to eat some berries. The restless flock soon takes to the air. Instead of trying to imagine the size of the world from the boar's description, Beck takes after the flock but soon returns as her wings are too short to keep up with them. It takes a while for the story to get off the ground, also, but children will love the fantasy images and adventures that open the world to this little fairy. Illustrations are well done and in keeping with the visual beauty of the story. Reviewer: Joan Elste

Illustrations were awsome, and Beck is just simply nice and real as a character. My daughter and I loved reading this book, so much so we would read more than two chapters a night. The limit is two a nite, so this is a good read.

Beck is very happy with her life, chatting with animals and taking care of Mother Dove.Still, she can't help wondering what lies outside Pixie Hollow. Are the tales of striped ocean and talking sand true?.Then Beck meets a flock of Explorer Birds and has her chance. With Vidia's special fairy dust,Beck can fly faster and farther than ever before. She joins the far-flying Explorer Birds,to see what's beyond the sea.But why would selfish Vidia help Beck? Is possible she just wants Beck to leave Pixie Hollow ...for good?

One of the many animal talent fairies, Beck, wonders what else is in the world besides Pixie Hollow. She gets help from another fairy and a flock of birds that travel with her until she realizes where she is really needed.  I have said this before but I love the Disney fairies series more than Disney Princesses.  The fairies find what their purpose is by finding their talent. Princesses kind of wait for fate to decide what their lives may be.    There are some holes in the story that was left unanswered.  The fact that no one found who was hurting Mother Dove.  Other than that it was a fairly entertaining book.
