Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers: Prayer for Ordinary Radicalsby Shane Claiborne
- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
"Prayer is not so much about convincing God to do what we want God to do as it is about convincing ourselves to do what God wants us to do." —from the Introduction Activists Shane Claiborne and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove show how prayer and action must go together. Their exposition of key Bible passages provides concrete examples of how a life of prayer fuels social engagement and the work of justice. Phrases like "give us this day our daily bread" and "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors" take on new meaning when applied to feeding the hungry or advocating for international debt relief. If you hope to see God change society, you must be an ordinary radical who prays—and then is ready to become the answer to your own prayers.

Shane & Jonathan will shed some light on your prayer life. They fill you in ,as only two Godly men can, on enhancing the most from your prayers. It takes more from us than simply making our pleas and requests. It calls for action on our part as well! Great book!
I have read this book twice (in one month) and will probably read it again soon. I have recommended it to all of my friends and have given it as a gift. It has prompted me to read other books from the same authors as well. Some of the material captured in this book is repeated in other books, but it is information that bears repeating. From my perspective, this should be a best seller. I have very few books that I hold in such esteem. Read this book with caution, it might change your life.
If you want to be captured by the issues Jesus is captured by. If you want to be moved by what moves the heart of God. If you want to see and love people the way the creator of life sees and loves His people. If you want to pray for and be the answer to the prayer of a world that is broken and hurtuing, and yet dearly loved by the Father. Then read this book.
