Sometimes even the deepest, darkest secrets find their way to the surface...

Summer 1956

Thirteen-year-old Willie Compton and his younger brother Leonard stumble upon a mine shaft while hiking the hills of Park City, Utah. The shaft is unsealed, abandoned. While Leonard stares at the hole in wonderment, a Slinky he's been flipping back and forth between his hands slithers through his fingers, tumbling toward the mouth of the shaft. Leonard bolts forward, reaches out to grab it, but he slips, then he falls.

Present Day

Up-and-coming filmmaker Melody Sinclair stirs in her chair, nervously awaiting the debut of her film at the Sundance Film Festival. Based on a true story, Bed of Bones tells a tale of murder, shining a big, bold light on Park City's tragic past. A past that's about to revisit the present.

Meet the Author

Born and raised in Southern California, Cheryl Bradshaw became interested in writing at a young age, but it was almost two decades before she put pen to paper. In 2009 Bradshaw wrote Black Diamond Death (Book One: Sloane Monroe series). Within six weeks it entered the top 100 in two different categories and remained in the top 100 for over a year. Since that time, Bradshaw has written five additional novels in the series. In 2013, Bradshaw introduced a new paranormal thriller series: Addison Lockhart, the first book titled Grayson Manor Haunting.

Bradshaw is the founder of IWU on Facebook, a writers group with over 2,000 members. In August 2012, Bradshaw was named one of Twitter's seven best authors to follow. In 2013, Bradshaw's novel, Stranger in Town, was chosen as a Shamus Award finalist in the category of best P.I. novel of the year. She was the only female nominated in her category.

Do not try to read yourself to sleep with this one.
It moves fast without a lot of distracting fluff.

The story line was clearly and logically arranged.
While truly a work of fiction,
it is an absolutely believable read.
It stays on topic. It has no political or lifestyle agenda (what a treat).
    Good job, Cheryl Bradshaw!

I have read every story in the Sloane Monroe series and Bed of B

I have read every story in the Sloane Monroe series and Bed of Bones is just as good as the others.  When a bomb explodes in a theater at the Sundance Film Festival, Sloane is involved because her boyfriend is injured, because he knew the producer of the film being played at the time of the bombing and of course, being Sloane, she gets involved without trying.

All of the characteristics that make this series and Ms. Bradshaw's books so good are present here:  wonder character development (we learn something new about Sloane every time), a riveting plot, enough twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing and an ending that is satisfying enough to make the story complete, but tantalizing enough to make the reader want to read the next book right now.

Each book can be read as a stand alone and the reader won't be confused - but if you have not read any of these books, I highly recommend that you do so.

You could really just start with this book and be fine. I recommend the previous books too, but only because they're all very good. You'll love the characters and twist after twist will keep you reading.

I believe this was my favorite of the series. I enjoyed the interplay of the parts of Sloane's life.  I believe the story would have benefited from further development of the killer's motivation,  what made him think it was job to take out women in connection with scriptures. However, the pace good and the book kept my interest. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as Sloane further develops her adult life away from the shadow of her sister's death.

This book sounded like it might have been good, when, late at night I was looking for something to read; I got to the half way point of the book, and
kept hoping it was get better, it did not. It was just "cheesy" is the only way I can describe it. I am in law enforcement, and have been a PI, my husband also in law enforcement. As I read I kept wondering if the writer had ever had any experience with law enforcement, maybe at least got a speeding ticket or something. Just wondering. There were a lot of errors in this novel, and making the lead character a PI doesn't make that situation "work" in my mind.

    YUK!

Just another series like Nancy Drew. You always know the main character will win. Also no hidden clues.

    Sloane Monroe Mystery

This was my first Cheryl Bradshaw book and I liked it. This is part of her series on a female detective. It was well written and I recommend it. Good action...character development.
