What The Lady Wants, The Lady Gets. And Then Some. . .

Lady India Lindley is accustomed to having her own way in everything, and marriage is no exception. Determined to elope, she boards a ship bound for Italy with her intended. But when Ottoman pirates capture the vessel, Lady India finds herself a slave to the mysterious and very commanding Caynan Reis, ruler of the Barbary state of El Sinut. He makes it quite clear that she is no longer in charge—and that's his first mistake. . .

Caynan is intrigued by the headstrong heiress whose passions and will are as strong as his own. Clearly this is not a treasure he can steal but one he must earn. Very well. Showing the lady how accommodating he can be will be pure pleasure. But what starts as an erotic game of sensual surrender soon yields to a love beyond their wildest fantasies, one that could destroy them both. . .

The author of over thirty-five novels of historical romance and four erotic novellas, Bertrice Small is a New York Times bestselling author who has also appeared on the Publishers Weekly, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times bestseller lists.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Best Historical Romance, Outstanding Historical Romance Series, Career Achievement for Historical Fantasy, and several Reviewers' Choice awards from Romantic Times BOOKclub. She has a "Silver Pen" from Affaire de Coeur, and an Honorable Mention from the West Coast Review of Books. In 2004 Bertrice was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Romantic Times BOOKclub for her contributions to the historical romance genre. Bertrice is a member of The Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America, PAN, and PASIC. She is also a member of RWA's Long Island chapter, L.I.R.W., and is its easternmost member.

Editorial Reviews

Kathe Robin
...[G]rips readers in a book so highly reminiscent of her older romances, her fans will surely rejoice. The pages filled with fascinating historical details and colorful descriptions of harem life and intrigue, Bedazzled is a gem and India is a heroine worthy of carrying Skye O’Malley’s heritage. Very sensual.
Romantic Times
Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Building on the popularity of her bestselling Skye O'Malley historical romances, this second volume of Small's Skye's Legacy series (after Deceived) begins in 1625, and follows the volatile Lady India Lindley in her conversion from an innocent, headstrong English heiress with forthright views about fashion and romance, into the beguiling, sensual, diplomatic wife of the mysterious Caynan Reis, ruler of the Barbary state of El Sinut. Because Small is compelled at the outset to explain how her current crop of characters relates to the individuals portrayed in her earlier books, the novel's beginning is dragged down by references that would boggle an experienced genealogist. The plot finally acquires a breathless pace when Lady India, attempting to elope with a questionable suitor, is kidnapped by Ottoman pirates and becomes the body slave of the local ruler. She thus finds herself in a cross-cultural adventure that mimics her aristocratic ancestors' experiences. Small contrasts two vastly different 17th-century venues--Europe's lavish upper class with its religious and political conflicts and Barbary's exotic El Sinut, an Islamic state with entirely different customs concerning marriage, costume and worldly affairs. Small knows how to tweak the historical romance formula with just the right touch of originality, when India is kidnapped yet again and brought back to the family manse in England. The inevitable happy end has the correct mix of suspense, sensuality and romance. (July) Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.

I enjoyed this book so much. I think it's my favorite one in the series. I liked India and Cayman. Their conversations made me smile so many times. I loved when India became his body slave. I did wish that the book spent more time on the two of them near the end, but that's because I didn't want the story to end. Great book!

Lady India Anne Lindley is the perfect historic example child gone wild. India is every bit as headstrong as the matriarch of the O'Malley/Burke/Southwood/DeMarisco family. If you've enjoyed the Skye O'Malley saga thus far, I urge you to pick this one up. You couldn't ask for a more perfect addition to the O'Malley novels. This one will surely not be a waste of your time!
