About the Author

Mackenzie is legally blind in her left eye, and has worn glasses since she was just four years old. She hasn’t let her amblyopia stop her from succeeding in life, and can play the violin, harp, piano, and guitar. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, and earned her Master of Science from the University of California, San Diego in Drug Development and Product Management. She has a deep passion for public health, reading, black cats, and Halloween. She collects gently-used prescription eyeglasses to donate to those in need, and hopes to close gaps in access to vision care.

Tracy is a dedicated and compassionate nurse with over 35 years of experience, primarily in pediatrics.
For nearly two decades, she has served as a credentialed school nurse, specializing in public health and supporting children and families with care and empathy. Tracy holds a Master of Science in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento. Her deep love for nurturing extends beyond her profession; she finds joy in gardening, watching the ocean, and doting on black cats and squirrels. Tracy brings both heart and expertise to her lifelong commitment to children’s well-being.
