Urgency is the key word here, a quality underlined in part by the use of a virtuoso chamber orchestra and also by the close, warm acoustic.... In the digital field, Järvi's disc certianly holds its own.

As someone who is admittedly obsessive about Beethoven's 3rd Symphony (over 110 CD's and counting), I find this to be one of the best on disc. While there isn't, nor can there ever be, a "definitive" performance, this and the similarly exciting recording by Dausgaard on Simax, are the best I've heard in the last 10 years. I don't want to steal a fellow writer's comments, but the wind playing is superb and there is obvious commitment by all participants. Beethoven is well-served
