Overview

This is a short story prequel to the novel Masquerade. It is about 20 pages plus there is bonus material of the first chapter of Masquerade.

What if your life was charmed and everything in it was perfect…
Before.
This is the story of my past. Of what things were like for me when everything was normal. Of what every teenagers life is like. Clothes. Parties. Boys and summer vacation. What’s so wrong with that? I liked it. I was happy.
At least I thought I was.
I didn’t know that lies and secrets were about to take over my existence. I didn’t know that there was someone out there, someone meant for me. I didn’t know that I was about to go on a journey, a journey that would lead me to the girl I am today.
This is the story that leads up to one of the worst years of my life. Would I go back and change things? Erase everything that has happened to go back into these moments?
Not a chance.
This is a story of before.

Meet the Author

Cambria Hebert grew up in a small town in rural Maryland. She is married to a United States Marine and has lived in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and back to Pennsylvania again. She is the mother of two young children with big personalities, is in love with Starbucks (give the girl a latte!) and she is obsessed with werewolves. Cambria also has an irrational fear of chickens (Ewww! Gross) and she loves to watch Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf. Her favorite book genre is YA paranormal, and she can be found stalking that section at her local Barnes and Nobles (which happens to be her favorite place ever!). You can find her never doing math. It makes her head hurt.
Cambria is the author of the Heven and Hell series, a young adult paranormal book series. The series begins with Before, a short story prequel and is followed by the first novel in the series Masquerade. Look for all her titles where all books are sold.
Cambria also co-hosts a live, internet blog radio talk show, JournalJabber, (www.blogtalkradio.com/journaljabber) where she dishes about books, publishing and everything in between: hair in a can, toilet snakes, chicken phobias, etc..
You can find Cambria on Facebook, Good Reads, Twitter and her website http://www.cambriahebert.com for her latest crazy antics and the scoop on all things Heven and Hell.

    Intrigued

This is a short prequel giving just enough to get curious and it worked! Will be buying Masquerade - I have to know what happens! This is meant for tween-young adult readers (which I'm not, but will continue to read it for myself and then give to my daughter if its appropriate for her to read. Love finding books that we both can enjoy and talk about.

    The perfect teaser

Before is a short story, the prequel to Masquerade. In Before we are introduced to Heven and Sam. Heven has the perfect life, looks, friends, guys…everything a girl could want.

Sam is in some kind of trouble, but we do not get to know enough about him to understand what kind of trouble it is. What we do know is that he is in love with Heven…but he should have stayed away.

This book is the perfect teaser to make you want to read Masquerade to find out what happens.

Wonderful lead in to Masquerade by Cambria Hebert

This is a short introduction to the main characters of Masquerade. This story gives you insight to what is going on when you read Masquerade. It is a wonderful read but is only 44 pages long.

    I Also Recommend:

Read this and prepare yourself for "Masquerade"

¿Before¿ tells us a bit about Sam and Heven, and their lives ¿ before. Before ¿Masquerade¿ ¿ this is the prequel, after all. Sam is trying to stop the monster from killing, and agrees to stay away from Heven. But he just can¿t. Heven is blonde, beautiful, and was just named captain of the cheerleading squad for the next school year. It¿s amazing how things can change in just one night ¿

This is a short prequel to Cambria¿s novel ¿Masquerade¿ and as such it gives us a bit of background. The beauty of this short is the way that things seem mostly normal ¿ except when they are not. There are little hints here and there that things aren¿t necessarily what they seem ¿ just who is Sam? Who is the monster? What are they looking for? And why Heven? Highly engaging, and definitely will whet your appetite for ¿Masquerade.¿ Check out Cambria Hebert¿s stories ¿ she¿s may be newly published, but she has her craft down.
