In the bestselling tradition of J.A. Redmerski and Jessica Sorensen come the next novel in Courtney Cole's New York Times bestselling Beautifully Broken Series...

Sometimes before we fall . . . we fly.

One dark moment was all it took to turn twenty-four-year-old Dominic Kinkaide's world black. On the night of his high school graduation, a single incident changed him forever, and he became a hardened man-famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured inside. Now all he cares about is losing himself in the roles that he plays.

At twenty-three years old, Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but an absence of moments. She tries to find acceptance in the arms of men to fill the void-a plan that has worked just fine for her, until she meets Dominic.

When jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, the combination of his secrets and her issues turns their attraction into the perfect storm. It could change their lives for good-if it doesn't tear them both apart . . .

In the heart-wrenching third installment of the Beautifully Broken new adult series (after If You Leave), Cole brings together an actor and a waitress who both struggle with the aftermath of trauma. It’s been six years since the suicide of Dominic Kinkade’s girlfriend, but he still prefers voyeurism to any sort of emotional attachment with a woman. Feisty Jacey Vincent is the first to admit that she has made a lot of bad decisions in her life—including dating a murderer—but she’s determined to turn her life around. Falling in love with a screwed-up actor who’s addicted to kinky sex is not in her plan, but after she accepts Dominic’s offer of a ride home from a party, the two end up in jail and are sentenced to community service. Will the enforced closeness bring them together—or shove them apart? As they learn each other’s secrets, it’s hard to say. Cole’s deep characters and deft plotting make this angst-filled contemporary feel raw and real. Agent: Catherine Drayton, Inkwell Management. (Nov.)

Before We Fall: The Beautifully Broken Series: Book 3 4.6 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 57 reviews.

I was really excited about the first half of this story. I thought, OH YEAH, this is scorchingly HOT but, then the "thing" the main character Dominic was troubled by, went stale. I don't know if there was too much teasing about "it" and not enough hints but, the whole "thing" gradually fizzled out all the good vibes I was feeling in the beginning. I lost my hot lust for Dominic! Anyway, (deep sigh) the story was good but, a little predictable. S.A.K.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ Stars Sometimes before we fall . . . we fly. Young love can be a blessing and a curse!  In this remarkable book by Courtney Cole, young love turns from a happily ever after to a tortured reality for half of the couple. This is the third book in the Beautifully Broken series and tells of redemption and love found, it is Jacey and Dominic’s story.    Dominic has achieved success and at the age of twenty-four he is jaded and looks at the world through pain ravaged eyes.  He has become a introvert in a world of extroverts, Hollywood.  His heart, mind and soul are encased in ice not allowing anyone inside.  The only relationships that he allows himself are deviant and even those are according to his rules.  Everything changes for Dominic the night he looked into a pair of innocent brown eyes and was trapped. The more time he spent with her and the more he learned about the woman, the more his ice begins to melt around his heart.  But he believes that he is a monster, will he be able to let go of his past?  Can he find redemption? When you have been treated with indifference all your life by the one person that should be on your side, you tend to feel worthless.  This is the life that Jacey Vincent has lived for her short twenty-three years.  The only one that has protected and loved her has been her older brother.  With his guidance, she has finally started seeing her own worth and who she really is inside.  When she meets Dominic at one of his brother’s parties that she is working at, Jacey recognizes another tortured soul.  She knows that he is someone she should avoid at all cost, but finds she cannot deny him.  Will he be another one in the long list of wrong choices?  Or will they find a way to help each other? The two main characters are both struggling to survive in a world that is slowly eating away at their souls. Will they be able to unburden the hurt inside?  Can the secrets that both hold close be revealed?  The feelings that they have for one another will either release them or destroy them and only through taking a chance will they find out!  Hero: Dominic Kinkaide 4.5 stars Heroine: Jacey Vincent 4.5 stars Plot:  4.5 stars Steam Level:  4.5 stars Cliffhanger:  No Would I recommend this book: Yes! The characters in this book will make you laugh, cry and at the same time need to know more about them and their relationship.  This book about Dominic and Jacey is a true love story with sizzle! Would I recommend this author: Yes! Each book in this series gets better that the last!  Courtney Cole is a remarkable writer that leaves an indelible mark on the reader’s soul with her hauntingly beautiful books. ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

I want to start by saying that Courtney Cole always succeeds in delivering a great story with raw emotions that will leave you going through a whole box of tissues. She has officially become my favorite adult contemporary author (Nora Roberts is my favorite in the paranormal genre). I started reading the Beautifully Broken series when I got an ARC of If You Leave, and I enjoyed reading it. That’s when I purchased ebook copies of the rest of the series. You know how there is always a book in a series that you enjoy reading more than the rest? For me, it was/is Before We Fall. This story is about a man, Dominic, who went through something devastating in his life and has scarred him so much that he doesn’t get attached to people, especially women. He goes through them like a book lover goes through books (yes, it is a lot, my friends). He doesn’t care if he hurts them or not. Enter Jacey, a sweet, down-to-earth girl, who gets intrigued by Dominic and wants to find out more about him. They start a type of friends with benefit relation. But Dominic has Demons he has to face and the sexual things that attract Dominic are things that seem weird to Jacey but still, she understands the want and need he has for those acts because she feels it too, even though she doesn’t want to admit that to herself. If you read If You Leave, you know she has a horrible background of boyfriends, so Dominic is someone she doesn’t need, not when he isn’t fixed yet but she wants to help him restore himself. Not only does Dominic has sexual-related demons. He went through something so traumatic, the reader is TOTALLY blindsided and if you say you saw it coming, you lie. It definitely took me so much by surprise. I thought the attitude he had was a horrible one and his past doesn’t justify what he does to women but you know it is a huge bargain to carry. I was shocked when I read what he went through. Not only was his past a terrible one but then for him to find out that what he had believed in was a lie and something else had happened, that was the peak for me of the story. I was expecting to hear a tun-tun-tun in the background because of how intense and shocking it was. I wasn’t prepared. It. Blows. You. Away. I was sad and devastated but I didn’t cry. Afterwards, everything was okay and Jacey was there to help him through everything. Then I read the epilogue. I got goosebumps reading it and I started bawling like a little kid. I was lost for a moment because something had happened in the beginning of the book but so much had happened that I had forgotten about it and in the epilogue it is mentioned and once again, Courtney Cole blows your mind away. The ending was the most perfect ending I have read in a contemporary novel. I love it so much. The feels are hitting me full force right now, remembering everything I read and what I experienced while reading this book.

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one that said “WOW” when I finished this book. It’s definitely worth the read. This was the first book of Courtney Cole that I have read and was not disappointed. Could not put it down and read it straight through. I especially liked how the chapters were written alternating from Dominic and Jacey perspectives. To me it gave more insight into their thinking and made the characters more understandable. This is one of the very few books that I have read where the ending is not rushed, all the pieces are put together and all the ends tied up nicely. Great ending! It’s like the author doesn’t want to stop writing and I certainly didn’t want to stop reading. Thanks for a good book.

I liked it okay. I didn't quite like the main characters; they weren't my type of people. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, so I don't have a biased opinion on Jacey, but from what I understand she wasn't that great of a person. The Premise for the 2nd book, If You Leave, sounds interesting, and I'll read the 1st book also since it seems to have characters that tie together, but I won't read Until We Burn, Dom's before story because I had enough of his debauched life in this book. I think I'm just over the whole cold manwhore persona in books. Also the thing with Emma at the end was not to my liking. Jacey grew on me a bit as the book went on. So in the end it was an okay read.

I received an ARC from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book so much!!! I have read the first two books and was looking forward to the continuation of the series. After reading book two I wasn't so sure about Jacey, if I'm being honest. But after this book I was pretty blown away by her and Dom. If it is possible I think I love them more than Mila and Pax or Maddy and Gabe. And I really love Brand so I was thinking of him and Jacey together, but Ms. Cole definitely made the right call here. I really don't like to recap the story in my reviews so I will just say, don't hesitate to read this book. This was a book I really didn't have figured out until things unfolded and that is kind of rare. And the epilogue to this story may have been the single best epilogue I have ever read. I was crying my eyes out with the happiest of tears. Thank you Ms. Cole for another amazing read. I can't wait for more of this series and I am still hoping for Brand to get his HEA.

Dominic is spending some time back at home with his family before he starts shooting his next movie. of course, he is getting off on his kinks while there. Then he meets Jacey. Although attracted to her, he is not going to waste his time with her because she's the same as the others and his sick and tired of the same old game. Not that he's going to change his ways, but on that particular night he doesn't want to deal with it. Little does he know that the woman next to him in his precious Porsche is going to tilt his world on its axis, shattering his belief that he can't ever feel again. Jacey is trying to change her ways and lead a new life. She's tired of falling for the wrong man and is determined to put herself first once and for all. Although she tries to ignore her growing attraction to Dominic, she can't help but try to save him. Even when he's being a jerk to her she's still drawn to the man and his sexy ways. He intrigues her and she can't stay away. After reading the previous book, If You Leave, I was left wondering what Jacey's story would be. I recall wondering that I was wondering if she would end up with Bran. Courtney Cole definitely threw me a curve ball on this one. I loved the way that Courtney Cole brought Jacey and Dom together. Their relationship was turbulent with conflicting emotions running rampant and sexual tension that could cut glass. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Especially since through it all I got to see both Jacey and Dominic grow into their characters. Each of them had demons they had to deal with and I liked the way the author went about Jacey and Dom's way of dealing with them. Or not dealing in Dom's case. Hell, that man was so out of it, conflicted and confused that I just wanted to wrap him up and shelter him from it all. Jacey though, she dealt with her problems head on with her head held high and I admired the hell out of her for it. I liked that their connection was developed throughout the story. Even if it was not immediate, you could glimpse something there beneath the surface of the walls they kept in place to keep their emotions in check. There was something they each needed from one another. In a weird way, they understood each other and through the 'friendship' they developed their connection deepened and led to something more. Needless to say that their chemistry was off the charts HOT. I enjoyed whenever they got together even when they did nothing but kiss. And when they did have sex? I loved it! Not only because it was hot as hell, but emotions did come into play and made it more enjoyable for me. My only complaint would bee that Dom's secret, that dark, painful secret he kept wanting to forget, wasn't as big a deal as I assumed it would be. Mind you, it's probably my fault for thinking it was something much more dramatic. However, it was a doozy regardless of my assumptions. All in all, an edgy, sexy read with complex characters that were drawn to each other even though they tried like hell to stay away from each other.

I can not believe no one told me about Courtney's awesomeness!  I have so been missing out.  Not only was this book addictive and impossible to put down, but it was also had a teeny tiny paranormal twist that filled me with the happy.  By teeny tiny I mean it might not have really been there, but it was for me :) .   Dom's dark past has all but consumed him when he meets Jacey and their lives are forced to intertwine.  Not that Jacey's life has been all sunshine and roses. Both are strong, yet weak and it made watching them build a connection together both fascinating and spellbinding.  This is not a realistic contemporary, but that did not make the emotions, connections and their personal growth feel any less real.  Courtney's writing style is easy to get sucked into and you feel almost as if you might run into one of the characters next time you are out and about.   This book is the third book in a series, but it felt like a standalone and does not have a cliff hanger.  In fact the epilogue ties everything up in a pretty little bow and is almost like a present to the reader.  If you like NA books with lots of heat, deep emotions, super hot rock stars, a hottie movie star, and a girl who can kick butt and take names then this one is probably the book for you.

This book was fantastic. It was full of emotions and growing and learning to trust and love again. It shows the determination of what love can do. I loved this book and look forward to the next one!
