My name is Monica. I'm a singer born and raised in Los Angeles.
I've stopped dating. When I cut a record, or win a Grammy, maybe then I'll be with someone, but every man in my past has done everything he could to make me submit myself to him, and it's gotten in the way of my career. I won't do it again.

But there's Jonathan. He owns the high-rise hotel where I work, and he is gorgeous and charming. I refuse to fall in love with him, even though when he asks me to submit to him, I want nothing more.

Monica and Jonathen are going to be hot together, but I am sure Monica is going to get hurt. Jonathen wants what wants and I believe he will get it. The problem is I don't think he has let go of his past. I look forward to this series. These two have already had some very hot sex scenes and he hasn't even gotten her to submit yet. I'm not a big fan of short stories but this one seems to be worth the commitment. Thank you eXcessica Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC.

Monica is a singer born and raised in Los Angeles. She has been in horrible relationships before and refuses to date again. Now she only cares about her music and her band mates. She meets Jonathan the owner of the high rise where she works. Jonathan wants Monica and will do pretty much anything to get her. I gave it four stars because of the length of the novella. Once I started it I could not put it down. The writing was fresh and flowed amazingly. There is no pretenses and its straight forward writing and plots. I will most definitely be continuing this series. This series is sure to knock your socks off there is no prissy MC, Monica has a back bone and a heart and doesn't take to getting walked on lightly.

A short story that continues in additional books, "Beg" is about young people trying to make their way into the music industry, struggling like most in the business. They know each other very well and do what needs to be done to keep band members out of trouble. The female lead singer makes quite an impression on a restaurant/club owner and he certainly makes an impression on her body.

Loved this book.  I was a fan of 50 Shades but Beg is fantastic.  Not only does it have the erotic factor but the story line and characters kept me interested and wanting to know more.  Couldn't wait to read the next installment.

I have been wanting to read this series forever and why not, the first one is free, so what was I waiting for? I did purchase the first three as a set during a crazy sale just because of the many recommendations I had received. I am a harsh critic when it comes to novellas under 100 pages, but even though it was too short it did its purpose of a good series set up. It made me "Beg" for more. I do need more...I hope the next installment stands up to its name of being a big Tease because Jonathan & Monica have got me under their skin....

Monica has dreams of being a grammy winning singer and is working as a cocktail waitress. Jonathan owns the hotel she's working in - until he doesn't. Monica is a very strong female character. We don't see enough of them in books for my liking. She knows what she wants and is working towards that goal while living within her means to get there. Once she finds herself alone with Jonathan she is adamant that she's not going to sleep with him, but their attraction, chemistry and bodies cannot force the mind to say no. They are quite hot together, and he had all the connections but she refuses to use him for them. Another admirable quality in Monica. Their encounters are intense and HOT as hell. They're both upfront about it being a purely sexual fling. She doesn't have time for a relationship and he's still in love with his ex. The episode ends fittingly with you wanting the next one but without so much angst that you're helling at the author. The story was well written with very likable and relatable characters - primary and secondary.

The Songs of Submission series, according to Ms. Reiss, is written like a t.v. serial. If I had started reading it when it was first released, I would have been waiting with bated breath for each new installment. As I waited until the series was complete, I now only have to juggle my review schedule to incorporate them. :) There's something about Ms. Reiss' writing - the lush prose, the unique story - that drew me in immediately. I want to know all about Monica - her life, her musical talents, her heartbreaks - as well as Jonathan's.  Monica is driven, caring, loyal, talented, and emotionally closed off - at least to men. Jonathan is handsome, wealthy, dominant, and emotionally closed off as well. These two individuals are drawn to one another like moths to flame but they each also avoid commitment like the plague. I'm extremely eager to see where their attraction is going to take them.  Honestly, I will read anything Ms. Reiss writes. She's that good!

VERY HOT! I hate a series even worse than a trilogy, but love this story. Glad I waited to start it after it was complete or the wait would have been terrible. Can't wait for her next, "Songs of Perdition" (another series, so I will again have to wait until it is finished to start it). At least "Spin" was a stand-alone, and just as HOT as "Songs of Submission".

ARC provided by Netgalley This is a great quick read that starts the story of Monica and Jonathan. Since this is just one part of a series of novellas there is no resolution to the story. If you appreciate this novella for what it is - a small piece of a whole story, then you will really enjoy Beg. The story picks up quickly and doesn't waste a lot of time trying to give you each character's history. You learn as you go. So far the characters are well developed and each of them has a unique personality. Monica is talented, ambitious and struggling to succeed like most people in LA. I love her spunk and her dedication to her dreams. She puts having a romantic life on hold in order to focus on working and making music. She is sassy, always has a witty retort, and worries about her friends. She is the kind of girl you can't help but want to be friends with. Jonathan, on the other hand, is a bit of a mystery. He is successful and thinks he knows what he wants when it comes to women, especially after being scorned in the past. It's easy to see that there is a lot more to him than meets the eye and he tries to avoid letting anyone in so he doesn't have to risk his heart again. I loved the banter back and forth between Monica and Jonathan. You could feel their chemistry in their conversations alone. I look forward to learning more about their pasts and see if they can find a way to fit into each other's lives despite the baggage they both carry. I am also really intrigued by the secondary characters and look forward to getting to know them better as well in the rest of the series. I finished Beg in one quick sitting, so it is a sexy short read and one that I'm sure you will enjoy.

This truly was a good book and a great start to this series. I always gripe about how I usually don’t like short stories very much,(It gives no time to fully connect with the story or the characters, and often too much time between the following books in series.)but I am happy to say this time its not true and I can't wait to read on! :) The characters were great and the story line was steamy and HOT. I will definitely continue reading these books and am loading up my weekend queue to read them all up! I foresee C. D. Reiss as becoming a favorite author of mine and can't wait to see what comes in the future!
