Chapter One The Beginning Genesis 1

In the beginning, the world was empty. Darkness was everywhere. But God had a plan.

God separated the light from the darkness. "Let there be light!" he said. And the light turned on. He called the light "day." And he called the darkness "night." This was the end of the very first day.

Then God said, "I will divide the waters." He separated the waters in the clouds above from the waters in the ocean below. He called the space between them "sky." This was the end of the second day.

Next, God rolled back the waters and some dry ground appeared. He made plants of many shapes and colors. He made mountains, hills, and valleys. This was the end of the third day.

God put a shining sun in the sky for daytime. He put a glowing moon and twinkling stars in the sky for nighttime. This was the end of the fourth day.

On the fifth day, God made swishy fish and squiggly creatures to live in the ocean. Then God made birds to fly across the sky.

On the sixth day, God made animals to creep, crawl, hop, and gallop. Then from the dust, God made the most wonderful creature of all-a person. God named him Adam. On the seventh day, God rested.

    great children books for beginner's

This book was my first book to my granddaughter at Christmas. After reading it to her, she wouldn't let my put it down. She took it home with her and I had to buy another one for my other granddaughter. My Daughters friend looked at this book and said where did you get it? I told her where I got it and went back to get 2 more. And they didn't have them any more so I found them here. And got them. It's a great book with easy reading in terms that children can understand and very colorfull pictures which catches the childs eye. It tells a story and where to find it in the bible. It has phrases for the child to think about and Verse to remember, songs & prayers. Just a wonderful book.

    Your kids will love it

I can't say enough about this book. I love that my 6 year old WANTS to read it over and over. These are the types of books that really teach values. My kids know the Bible stories very well because of this book. I also use it in my sunday school class with 4 year olds. They LOVE the pictures and the stories are easy to understand. Then we'd act out each story. I am so happy I found this. I LOVE this book. A great introduction to the Bible!!

The BEST Kids Bible out there...

This has been my son's favorite book since he's been able to say a few words - which has been over a year! Before nap time EVERY day he asks for 'Bible Stories.' I know he's 'stalling,' but I can't resist reading them to him - and he LOVES this book and the pictures. Perfect amount of words, perfect amount of page turning, beautifully illustrated...we love it!

Super great for 3 - 4 year olds!

My now 4 year old still loves to have me read this Bible to her nightly. She loves the stories - they are simple and easy to remember. The artwork goes great with the stories as well! We finish the Bible one night and start it over the next. A must for any toddler!!!!

    So Impressed!

We purchased this after reading another Bible that was really disappointing. We just wanted a Bible with complete stories and illustrations that helped tell the stories. We were not looking for a Bible with devotional type questions. We are really impressed with this beginners Bible. Our almost 4 year old boy loves it and our toddler enjoys looking at the pictures.

    This book is awesome.

It is very easy to read and understand for the preschool children. My children had this book when they were little. The illustrations are great and we use it with their bible lessons from church.

    Teaching about Jesus

This book has helped me to begin to tell the story of Jesus. My daughter is currently only 21 months but we have been reading to her for some time and she now understands who Jesus is. This book is what we read as the last thing before she goes to bed. I had been looking for some time to find a way to begin sharing this great story and now I have found it.

great first bible for young children

We really enjoyed reading this with our twin almost-five year old boys. We read four chapters each night until we had gone through the entire book. The illustrations were perfect for that age and the content was wisely edited to avoid some of the more unpleasant parts of the Bible that might not yet be age-appropriate. The kids really liked learning about all of the different people and identifying which ones they knew on the cover. And I liked that they included the chapter and verse. We will read again and again, I'm sure.

    A Wonderful Gift.

After looking at many Beginner Bibles for gifts, this one is the best by far. The stories can be read in chapter form to little ones and being a short read , they hold the young ones attention.

The pictures are wonderful.....very pleasant, bright colors and a joy to share.

After our initial purchase, we purchased two more for our other Grandchildren. They are being read cover to cover.

    Enjoy !!!

    Easy to Read

My daughter has not arrived yet, she is due in September. My husband and I both remember reading this book in our religious classes as children. It does a great job to tell a child the bible stories without the long wording of a BIBLE.

    excellent started for children

I read a couple stories a night to my son. I think it is a great story book bible for childrent ot start. I do think it does not go into great detail but thats ok for the young ones. He is already learning Christian Values and this bible helps him ask more questions.
