I have only listened once to the four CDs in the 'Barrons's Beginner's Self-Study Language Course for French'. I doubt that I will gain very much knowledge of the French language from the four CDs included in this course. Here's why in a nutshell: Disc #1 has 45 tracks that last 21 minutes. Disc #2: 27 tracks that last 18 minutes. Disc #3: 25 tracks that last 59 minutes. Disc #4: 32 tracks that last 29 minutes. The cost of $29.99 is too high for what you get. The course does come with two books. One of which is about 170 pages and pertains to the tracks on the first two CDs. The other 87-page companion book has transcripts for the first three CDs. The third and longest CD, number three, covers all of the words in the glossary found in the companion book. There doesn't appear to be a transcript for the fourth CD, which is called a 'take along CD'. If I had known how short most of the CDs were BEFORE I bought it, I would likely have spent my money on another French CD course. Despite the short length of the CDs, this course may be better than my rating implies. I will update my review if I find that the course was helpful in learning French. I am a fan of many books published by Barrons., including the book called 'French At A Glance'. Monte Mendoza in Mesa, Arizona. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
