In her book, ''Beginnings'', author Lori Ann Watson teams up with illustrator Shennen Bersani to recreate the mysteries of growth and birth through the eyes of a child. The book cover shows a collage of the different forms of creation, while a newborn peacefully dreams of Paradise. These images portrait the theme of the book. Using her primary school teaching experience, Ms.Watson shares with the young readers the beginning of life using elements from the earth, the sky, the animals, and ending with the greatest of all creations; human beings. The vividly eye-catching pictures, in harmony with the story, will captivate the attention of any pre-schooler, primary school child, and even adults. This is a simple and enchanting read-aloud children's book. Every page is an awe of beauty and invites the reader to become part of the story. Even if the child does not know how to read yet, the pictures provide the key elements for him or her to understand the story. I highly recommend this book to parents and to those individuals involved in the early education of children. It is a great tool to teach them about how life starts from its ''Beginnings.'' This is a wonderful book for a parent to read to a young child. It celebrates the wonderful give of life that God gives all living creatures. Lori Ann Watson and Shennen Bersani use colorful words and illustrations to capture a young child's eye and imagination. The quality of the book is exceptional and it would make a nice gift for a young mother to be. I can see a young toddler bringing it to a parent to be read over and over again. I would (and will) recommend this book to all families with young children or grandchildren.
