An introductory text for a one-semester course at the sophomore level. Describes basic principles of behavior, explains how environmental events influence behavior, and describes behavior modification procedures. Offers examples from everyday life, and discussion of both class and recent research. Chapters are relatively short and each covers only one principle or procedure. Learning features include chapter summaries, practice tests, a glossary, and applications. Misapplication exercises ask students to explain what is wrong with the application of the procedure in that case. This second edition is streamlined, and offers expanded information on functional assessment. The author teaches psychology at North Dakota State University. Annotation c.
