Purpose: The aim is to provide busy primary care clinicians with a concise reference on behavioral and developmental issues in pediatrics. The authors seek to help clinicians establish rapport with and elicit information from patients, understand the psychological, biological, and social roots of patients' problems and provide effective treatment for them. With the current trend in medicine toward increasingly outpatient-oriented care, this aim is both worthy and well accomplished .
Audience: This book is oriented toward all primary care clinicians who treat children, including pediatricians, family practitioners, physician's assistants, nurses, etc., but it might also be helpful to medical and nursing students as a clinical aid. The authors are considered experts in their fields and represent medical schools, colleges, and universities across the nation.
Features: There are few pictures in this book, but there are many useful tables and charts that provide rapidly accessible summaries of the data presented in the chapter. The outline format makes this book both visually appealing and easy to read. Also, the references listed at the end of each chapter provide additional resources for both clinicians and interested parents.
