Overview

Thou shalt not steal, murder...

Jefferson Myles embezzles money from the wealthy clients of his securities firm to fund "Operation Stingray," an organization that steals ammunition from military bases to sell to rebels in Honduras. His greed doesn't stop at the bank, though.

Nor covet thy neighbor's wife.

His beautiful neighbor Linda, with her silky skin and curvaceous hips? Yeah, she's his too. Until her husband, Blake, discovers his secrets — and winds up dead. Now Jefferson's life is in danger, and the wife he turned his back on may be the only one who can save him.

    A reviewer

Very good from beginning to the end, hard to put down. I felt sorry for Margo, who was betrayed by her husband, neighbor and best friend, but kept her family together. Jefferson got what he deserved. I purchased this book from the flea market and was not disappointed at all.

    An Excellent Read!!!

Behind the Veil is an excellent book. It's a real page-turner with lots of twist and turns from start to finish. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more books from Ms. Perkins in the near future.

    Roller Coaster Ride

Behind the Veil was like riding on a roller coaster with the anticipation steadily building, building, building. The twists and turns left me wanting to know what was to come. Needless to say, I couldn't put the book down until I read the last page! The characters are well developed be they the 'good', 'bad' or the 'underdog' in this novel. The descriptions enabled me to really picture scenes in my mind without even trying hard. It is well-paced and moves right along and is filled with so many things such as surprise, intrigue, love, suspense, faith, danger, friendship, forgiveness, loyalty, betrayal, etc... It's filled with so much! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is one of the 'good' ones. One that will be remembered long after the last word is read.

A Contemporary Voice in American Literature

I have just finished reading Suzette Perkins's Behind the Veil. What a great 'read.' I have been teaching American literature for over 25 years. I know the canon well. This book belongs with D. H. Lawrence, Ernest J. Gaines, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and countless other giants in American literature. I am using Perkins's 'Prologue' to teach my freshman writers about exposition, description, and the use of invigorating 'verbs' of action. Suzetta is a master of dialog, character development, and suspense. I can't wait to read her next ten books. She's truly 'up and coming.' Booker T. Anthony, Ph.D.

Game's - Do You Know How to Play

This book was about playing games in life. You have to know how to play and when to play. It was exciting and kept you on the edge.
