Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
DJing is more than playing music; when done properly, DJing is an art form. Many famous DJs began their careers in underground clubs with simple equipment but worked their way up to more elaborate equipment. By experimenting with beats, they have revolutionized the way that music is played and performed in clubs. Some consider a DJ to be as much a musician as a guitar player or singer, although others believe that DJing is nothing more than playing music and combining songs with other music and beats. The authors provide an adequate introduction to DJing, and present several related topics, including gender debates. Several brief biographies of well-known DJs are provided, as well as statistics for hit records produced by DJs. The only topic missing is a more comprehensive introduction to the equipment DJs use. Filled with colorful images of DJs performing, the text is interesting and engaging. Part of the "On the Radar: Awesome Jobs" series. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
