Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amy McMillan
What teen does not dream of living just a bit on the edge? Snowboarders and other extreme sports participants do on a daily basis and this book gives readers a chance to live vicariously through its pages. Besides giving some background on the evolution of snowboarding and explanations of the different disciplines within the sport, several spreads introduce famous faces in the snowboarding world, Olympians and newcomers. There are sections highlighting various record breakers, descriptions of different rail tricks, and spotlights on some of the more popular snowboarding locations, and a run down on some of the equipment particular to the sport. There's also a handy glossary, resources for more information and even a how-to for learning to perform an aerial back flip. Every inch of page space is filled with bright neon colors, photographs, graphics and text boxes sure to appeal to reluctant teen readers. This volume in the "On the Radar" series is a worthy addition to school and public libraries especially where the interest level is high. Reviewer: Amy McMillan
