The first female winner of The Biggest Loser shares her inspiring story of weight loss and personal transformation

When Ali Vincent became a contestant on NBC’s hit show, The Biggest Loser, her weight was at an all-time high of 234 pounds—and her life had reached an all-time low. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
As the first female winner of TV’s The Biggest Loser, Vincent lost 112 pounds, about 47% of her body weight. As she explains, she shed unhealthy habits and gained an enthusiastic approach to life. She writes, “[I]t’s an accomplishment that fuels all of my future goals.” Vincent’s story is one that will be familiar to readers: someone who, despite being an athletic, popular high schooler, by her early 30s was “just kind of letting life happen to me—I didn’t feel worthy of wanting anything more for myself.” Once she became a contestant on the show (with her mother as her partner), she wanted to win; she shares her strategies for losing weight, navigating the show and engaging more in life. Readers looking to slim down will find lots of helpful tidbits. They’re not revolutionary (“don’t let the scale rule your life,” “don’t get in a workout rut”), and though Vincent’s penchant for platitudes can be grating, her earnestness and enthusiasm is clear. Includes recipes and before-and-after photos. (Dec.)

    Great Read!

My respect for the first female Biggest Loser is sincere. This book has many inspritional stories from a woman with a vision. The journey on the show is only part of her story. This is really worth the read?

    Moving Personal Memoir

Ali presents her story and what the journey was for her to come to terms with why she over ate and why she had gained weight and what it would take to shed that weight. It isn't meant to be a complete re-telling of her time on the ranch or what being on the Biggest Loser would be like for others, although I think one could certainly get a small glimpse; but rather her story and she tells that beautifully. Yes, as a previous reviewer commented - you could sit down and read it through in one day, but to me, that means the book is engaging and keeps you wanting to know more. There are nuggets of inspiration and moments of her life that I think many could resonate with in their own lives.

    Okay

I have been a fan of the biggest loser since season 2, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ali Vincent become the first female biggest loser, but I feel like her book didn't express too much unknown information about the show, yes, it gives us a peak into the background information that occurs at the Biggest Loser, but I read it in one day and was a little disappointed.
