    Definitely Delicious!!

Oh my, this is a WONDERFULLY delicious book!! I love Roald Dahl's work, and this is very similar to his style.

The creativity of the whole adventure is brilliant!!! And the level of writing is perfect for younger readers - and still enjoyable for older ones :D

... I have a warning though: you must have snacks close at hand when reading this, it WILL make you hungry.

Great book... I do look forward to reading more from Crystal in the future.

    What a great story!

My 8 year old just could not put it down! She loved the story line and thought very highly of the characters and their decisions, especially towards the end. It also brought on great conversations about overindulging in sweet treats (good for her to realize!). She is now in the process of reading it to her little brother and they are both really enjoying it! It really kept her attention and has grabbed his attention already.
I was very impressed at how inventive and well written the story was. It will definitely keep the attention of all readers. Bellyache really is a cute story, and we cannot wait for another one of Crystal's books to come out!

    A Sweet Read

Bellyache is a charming story with fascinating characters, imaginative landscapes, and witty dialog. The hero of the story, Peter, is an ordinary kid swept up in extraordinary events. The tale showcases acceptance, tolerance, bravery, persistence, forgiveness, and faith, but manages to avoid the often-times treacle-drenched parlance of contemporary kids' literature.
A tale crafted in the same vein of Alice and Wonderland and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory stories...if only milk chocolate bunnies would hop through my world!

    Such A Treat

Fantastic book. Very addictive and enjoyable the whole way through. I think I enjoyed it as much as my

kids! This book could defiantly stand next to the classics such as Roald Dahl and JK Rowling. If you're still

having doubts then I would suggest you check out the preview (e.g. at Amazon) because I guarantee you

    will be hooked :)

I loved this book! Crystal Marcos has written a real winner! The pages come alive and the characters become your friends (at least some of them)! Bellyache is a wonderful book for ages 7 and up. The imagery will capture children's hearts and imaginations, and they will come to love Peter and Lina. They will also enjoy and benefit from the message of forgiveness that is conveyed. As for adults, do yourself and favor and read this book aloud to your kids, and if they insist on reading it alone, then read it yourself. You won't be disappointed. While a fantastic book for children, it also has much to offer adults. With a developed plot and characters, Crystal takes you on an unexpected turn towards the end of the book. I won't spoil it for those that haven't read it, but trust me, you may think you know the direction things are going, but you are wrong. I have to add that the scene at Bella's was one of my favorites! Laundry detergent boxes for seats and napkins in fabric softener boxes! Genius! Bellyache is destined to be a fixture on the bedtime reading lists for families across the globe! Oh, and PS: I loved the candy images that end each chapter:)

    This is a delightful tale

Peter was on a school holiday. He planned to spend the day with his grandfather working in the sweet shop. Peter was already thinking about all the goodies he would eat. Papa burst his bubble when he told him he would be rewarded with three pieces of candy. Peter carefully chose his three delicious pieces of candy. Papa asked him to help stock the gummy jars. He helped himself to a few worms and gobbled them down. He didn't stop there; soon he had gobbled a cupcake and that was before lunch. Peter journeys to a faraway land where he learns a lesson on forgiveness and acceptance.

In this delicious story our main character makes some very poor choices and learns some bellyaching lessons. The author is talented and imaginative. This is a delightful tale sure to please elementary age students. It left me craving dark chocolate. I can hardly wait to share it with my grandchildren. I eagerly await the next offering by this author.

This will get even reluctant readers to read.

Bellyache: A Delicious Tale is sweet!!! Crystal Marcos has woven a tale of fantasy and wonderment. I followed Peter's adventure as he is transported from his grandfather's sweet shop to a world made of candies and desserts including houses of food, peppermint cats and marshmallow birds. A place so different from what we know that vegetable flavored treats are highly craved delectable delights.

I find Marcos to be amazingly talented in the area of character development for the young reader. Each and every person and creature alike add to the enchantment of the story.

Bellyache is absolutely charming. There is no doubt that it will not only appeal to young readers ages seven and up, but will be a fantastic read aloud book for the entire family. Teachers, you will want this in your class library.

    A delectable candy covered treat!

'Bellyache, A Delicious Tale' by Crystal Marcos is a really fun and imaginative children's book. I really enjoyed the magical world she has woven for her readers, full of mouth watering candy creations. I thought the book's characters were larger than life and came across really clearly in your mind's eye. There were a lot of great uses of imagery in the book, making the settings really clear in your head, almost like being there. The books storyline was well thought out, and I particularly enjoyed the rather exciting ending, which I won't spoil for you by telling you what happened. I'm sure your children will really enjoy this book. I know I would of when I was a little one.

Learning lessons from a Bellyache - a story with a delicious ending!

BELLYACHE is going to be a great new read-aloud (and silent reading) book for my students this fall. This is Crystal Marcos's first book and it brings out the child in all of us. Her main character, Peter, is modeled around any normal child/adult wanting more than is allowed, yet managing to go beyond those rules and taking what is wanted anyway he can. How many times have my eyes have been bigger than my stomach? This is not just a 'for kids' story!!! I enjoyed the fantasy of Peter's 'dreams' and got hungry just from the descriptions of the Candonites. Lots of morals are sprinkled into the story with, of course, the highlight being the rescue of two not-so-friendly friends, who then, through a little kindness and understanding, become the best of friends. I look forward to lots of discussions and questions coming from this book. I would say it's geared for the 7-10 age range, but adults will fall into Marcos's winninng style too!
