Belushi is a whirlwind of a book, filled with never-before-seen photos and provocative, intensely personal testimonials by just about every major comedic figure of the last half century. Here is the remarkable and raucous story of a larger-than-life figure who danced out at the precipice of American fame.

Really well written biography compiled by Belushi's widow, who was with him from a young age. Features remembrances, insights and personal photos from the people who knew and loved him best. Everything is laid out in easily-digestible sections with vignettes and testimonials that range from hilarious to tragic. Much of the material was culled form interviews conducted in the years after his death. Belushi was a driven genius, a complicated man who led an extraordinary life and died an untimely death. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. When I was a kid I found John Belushi to be larger than life. He was the type of comedic genius that could solicit a laugh without a spoken word. I only made it half way through the debacle of a book 'Wired', mainly because it was a one sided view of a very complex individual.John Belushi was my biggest influence, motivating me to study at the famed Second City. Today he continues to influence various sketch/Improv actors. This book is a very genuine and touching look at John Belushi with stories retold by friends and family.I highly recommend this book for anyone remotely involved with any form of comedy. Was this review helpful? I grew up only knowing that John Belushi made me laugh and have always been a fan. After reading this book and all of the personal accounts & photographs included I was not only inspired, but am now in awe that he left such an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. The love and admiration his friends and peers had(& have in memory) for him is overwhelming. By the end of the book I felt like I had a better idea of what it must have been like to know him and what a tragic loss it was for all.... I was so touched and absorbed in this book that as I finished it, I found myself weeping. Judith and Tanner are to be commended! We should all be so lucky to have such dedicated and loving friends, family, peers and fans!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I only knew John Belushi as goofy Jake Elwood from my dad's old video of Blues Brothers and old videos of SNL skits, but after reading this book my view of him totally changed. This book is amazing. Judith Belushi-Pisano does a wonderful job of retelling the life of John through his closest friends. This book should really not be missed. If you are not already a Belushi fan, you will be converted. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Like most Belushi fans, I had read WIRED. That said, I thought I knew John Belushi. Not so. Now, having read BELUSHI which is packed with first hand stories from friends and some of the biggest names in Hollywood...along with hundreds of intimate, never before seen photos, I have a real feeling for the guy. The reader is taken along for a roller coaster ride that was John's life. Terrific highs are enjoyed which makes the trip down, perhaps, harder to take than the story Bob Woodward conjured in 1984. More than anything else, I feel I can laugh with John Belushi again. At last, he is human. For that, I thank writers Tanner Colby and Judy Belushi Pisano. Was this review helpful?
