Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Could a balloon be big enough to lift a very young boy off the ground? In Ben's case, it is and he sets off on a high-flying adventure. He flies over Grandma's house and, like Mom, she demands that Ben come down and put his feet on the ground. He flies on, but gets caught in a tree. It is Dad to the rescue. When the balloon man comes by and Ben asks for a new one, you can imagine the outcry. The illustrations have a cartoon quality to meet the tone of this fanciful adventure. "Tadpoles" is the name given to this series of early readers that kids can read on their own or with adult assistance. Tips are provided to help enrich the reading experience and make it fun. The fifth point listed is one often overlooked—"Give praise! Children learn best in a positive environment." On the verso of the title page in each title of the series, there is a photograph or drawing of the author and illustrator with a comment from each. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

Great Book! My 16 month-old grandson wants nothing but books about balloons and this was perfect!

Balloons on every page, an easy story to follow, with characters he can recognize. It's not too long and you can point out different things in the pictures so you won't get so tired of re-reading it.
