Each page offers young readers a chance to be a part of the story with a fold-out map and packages that contain paper gifts for the animal characters. Young readers will be entertained as Mrs. Cow receives her bell, Mrs. Pig receives a brush and soap, Mr. Mole receives glasses, Mrs. Hen receives a book of fairytales, Mrs. Sheep opens a brush, and Mrs. Mouse opens a piece of cheese. Then, Mr. Ben returns home to find a letter addressed to him. Young readers open the letter and find a thank you from all the animals for delivering the mail to them. Carol Ottolenghi has written nonfiction and fiction books for adults and children for almost 20 years. In 1996, she won the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Magazine Merit Honor Award. One of her stories was selected for Best of the Children's Market by the Institute of Children's Literature. She currently lives in Ohio.
