Charlotte Agoston thinks she has her life all figured out, until her father ends up in prison for fraud. Disgusted with her family, she decides she's done with this life and runs. She changes her name and disappears. She becomes someone else, with a new name, new family, and new friends. Simon is a well known local. He's sexy and kind. He stumbles into Charlie/Charlotte/Lee one night. He's drawn to her. They have instant chemistry. When he learns her name is really Charlotte, he realizes she running from something. He just isn't sure what. He doesn't push. He just wants to get to know the girl he's falling for. I lo Ed Simon. He's so patient. He fights for what he wants and doesn't give up. I thought Charlie was a great heroine. She felt guilty for her father's wrong doings and just wanted to make it right. she thought she didn't deserve Simon. It was great watching her character grow. I loved this story. I wish she would of been honest with him sooner, and maybe the ending a little bit more, but that's just me. I couldn't put the book down! I can't wait to read the rest of her books! 4.5 awesome stars!!

Such a great writer. The story was well written with great main characters. I was leery to read it because I can't stand books that a main character has a secret that you wait a whole book to find out that the huge secret is something completely ridiculous. The readers know Charlie's past from the beginning and how it will come into play in the future.

Beneath This Mask is a devastatingly raw and ruthlessly passionate journey of two people trying to figure out who they really are immersed in overwhelming demands and crippling expectations. There is no break in the tension as it is intertwined with mystery, lies, and a whisper of the promise of love. Just when the light of hope begins to rise upon the horizon through a brilliant show of soft strands of colorful light, a wicked storm overtakes them blocking out all light and surrounding them in darkness and pain. The only way to weather this storm is to draw from their inner reserve of strength and perseverance. Seeing the healing, soft rays of the morning sun is not just a dream if they can hold on long enough and love hard enough to permanently break down the walls that surround a broken and hurting soul. Charlie knows she is good at one thing. When life gets hard, she runs and then she hides. Day after day she lives a life that isn’t her own and yet it is one that she values because it is completely hers. She has made something good out of what is left her life, and she is content with the way things are. No changes necessary as long as she continues to live by the rules. When Simon walks into the tattoo parlor she works at, all of her rules are thrown out the window. He is intrigued by the mysterious beauty that he accidentally stumbled upon. Being so used to following every wish of his parents, he wants to do something that is just his alone, and he wants to get to know Charlie. With a gentle yet unrelenting persistence, he slowing removes the walls surrounding Charlie’s heart one brick at a time. Even without her knowing it, Charlie finds herself opening up to Simon in ways she knows is not good. She can’t fall in love with him because if he knew who she was, he would rightfully run and never look at her again. Can love grow amid a garden saturated with lies? Is a future possible when you can’t outrun your past? I am utterly blown away by this deeply heartfelt and wonderfully masterful story that filled my heart with precious hope and lifted my soul to soar among the clouds. Charlie broke my heart with the life that she ran from as well as the small yet wonderful new life that she created on her own. She had so much determination and spunk that I really enjoyed everything about her. Along with her, I really loved Simon. While they came from two different worlds, their personalities complimented and challenged each other to become more then who they were. They made each other better, and they found the missing part of their soul in the other. Simon and Charlie are such a beautiful couple, and I was cheering them on and praying for a happy ending. Meghan March has found herself another fan of her unbelievably brilliant work in me. Her writing flows effortlessly yet profoundly while it leaves behind a heavy yet empowering message for all to hear clearly and loudly. The heart that is felt behind each of these powerful words is one that welcomes all with open arms and expects the same open honesty in return. We should all strive to live our lives with integrity and purpose. A life filled with lies and confusion is not a life worth living.

Beneath This Mask, Meghan March Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance, contemporary I love a good dramatic romance and this has lots of promise. The tattooed girl angle too was a change – that’s usually the prerogative of the bad boys.... Charlotte – what a mess her life had become, and what a shock to her. Now her ordered, secure lifestyle is upside down with her father in prison and suspicion clinging to her, tainting her life. The FBI seem convinced she knows where the money is stashed, and won#t let up on her. She can’t take a life of constant surveillance and suspicion, so she grabs a few essentials and crosses the country, dying her trademark strawberry blonde locks a deep black with red and purple streaks, and gaining some decorative skin works via her new job in a tattoo shop. She’s forged a new lifestyle along with her new ID as Charlie Stone, has a couple of cash under the table jobs working long hours, and a huge best friend in her adopted scruff mutt Huck. Her landlady and employers are her only friends, she keeps quiet about herself but unbends just enough to let them into her life. Con, the tattoo shop owner, is also a stress reliever at times – they have a mutually acceptable casual friends with occasional benefits relationship, and I liked him. He’s a typical play the field guy in many ways, but its clear her feels close to and cares for Charlie. She seems to draw people to her like that though – both the landlady and her other employer see her qualities, and help her whenever they can. Its nothing like her old life, but in many ways she’s freer, away from the constraints of society. She’s trundling along, been there for around a year, keeps her head down, and is just living week to week as best she can, when Simon drops into her life. There’s an electric, sizzling spark there the moment they set eyes on each other, and he just won’t take no for an answer. She knows he could be a real threat to her new life, that the cameras that surround him could give her away and yet...he wears her down, and soon they are in a hot and passionate relationship. Simon is lovely, all that a lady wants in a man, kind and thoughtful, romantic, loves Huck ( very important for those of us with pets – love me love my dog/cat/horse!). He comes up with the most incredible dates, full of romance and surprises, and I loved him too. Of course there’s the edge to their relationship in that Charlie thinks its a for now only thing – she knows they can’t have a future however much she wants it, but for him she’s The One, and he’ll stop at nothing to convince her. She can’t tell him why that won’t happen though without revealing all her secrets, and she’s risking so much if she does and it goes wrong. Its a real dilemma that worries at her, and of course eventually secrets come out anyway – and at just the wrong time. This one is no exception, it comes out in a blaze of publicity with Simon learning her ID as cameras are shoved into his face, and there’s no chance to explain. It goes downhill really, really fast, and is a very emotion packed part of the book. The pacing of this read was excellent, the build up was perfect, that slow burn start, with Charlie saying no and Simon insisting yes, then she wants one night and he wants more – it was great and I loved the way it played out, and then when the climax came ( well, the one affecting her past not those ones!!) it was a real roller coaster read. Very tear jerking at times. Stars: Five, a great read and one I’d be happy to re read. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers

The author is definitely a great storyteller. I will say I didn't like this book as much as her newer books, like Dirty Billionaire trilogy or Dirty Girl duet. But I enjoy her writing very much. This one was a bit too instant-love for me. That's my only reservation, though. Once I got past that -- because I love the characters, I enjoyed the book very much, and will definitely read the rest of this series.

Ms. Meghan March has me addicted to this series! I finished Beneath This Mask in less then 24 hours and bought book 2 immediately! This story is about Simon and Charlie. They both have lived a charmed life but also know the dark side of life. They are both just starting to deal with that dark side. It's a loving, but hot and sexy story, It's also very well written and will make you fall in love with NOLA! I also love the secondary characters in this story!! I would give this more then five stars if I could!!!

I had high hopes for this book as the reviews were fantastic, but it just fell a little short. I felt like any little fight they had was extremely short and they made up in what seemed like one paragraph. Im just a fan of more tension, more fire, more of that something special that makes a book a fantastic read you cant put down. Towards the end when she gets herself in trouble it seemed to improve but simon wasnt even in those parts, then when they reunited it was much better but that was at the very end and not enough to make up for the rest of their semi-good love story. Im just not sure i will read the rest of the series.

Enjoyable Read!! I enjoyed this book, but something was missing for me, so, my overall rating is a 3.75, rounded up to 4. I absolutely loved Simon Duchesne. He was a breath of fresh air. Simon made the book for me. I loved the way he loved Charlie and also fought for them to have a relationship. However, I think that is what I also didn't like as much, because I had a lot of problems with Charlie and her character. I understood her reluctance to a certain extent, but her thought processing was insane, and quite frankly, she drove me crazy!! I didn't like her treatment of Simon and just once I wanted to see her fight for him as much as he was fighting for her, and I don't feel like I ever really got that. I also never saw Charlie as this bad girl. For me, she came across as a girl who was always hiding her true self. Overall, the book was very well written with a good story line that kept my interest and well-thought out characters. I especially enjoyed Connor Leahy and Yvonne Santos, and I cannot wait to read their books. Very good job to the start of this series by Meghan March.

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak. This is Charlie and Simon’s story. Charlie is on run. She left everything behind to build again. She is all about keeping a low profile. She has a ton of tattoos but stays out of the news. She meets Simon when his friend comes in for a tattoo. Simon is in the news a lot. She knows she needs to stay away from him. Can they stay away from each other? Nope. Simon knows that Charlie has secrets but he is determined to uncover them and keep her for himself. One night after a high profile party Charlie’s past comes back for her. Can Simon help her or does she push her away? Can they ever get back what they had or is she about to go away forever? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Meghan March created a beautiful Setting when she placed her characters in “Beneath this mask” and “Beneath this ink”. The reader is directly drawn into the world of the rich as well as into the beautiful “southern” surrounding. She writes flawless and fluent and her characters are well developed, so you can embrace their feelings. When we follow “Charlie’s” and Simons story in “Beneath this Mask” we also get to know Vanessa and Con of “Beneath this ink”. The Author directly captures your interest and you will want to know what is going on with Con and Vanessa – while you’re still reading about Charlie and Simon. Therefore, it is no wonder I directly review both books in one session.I suffered with all four of them but I really do not want to give away any details of the story so I leave it at the simple statement: I simply loved the books and I am looking forward to the 3rd book. Those books were the first I read from this author and I am sure, they will not be my last

4.5 stars for Beneath This Mask!  Never have I wanted to pierce my nipples more than I do right this minute! Whew! Someone please fan me while I write this review!!! HOT HOT HOT! Meghan March was a new author I wanted to try. I love finding new indies and offering my support by way of reviews. And the quality of her book was anything but "new". The writing was mature and thought provoking and reeked of a well-seasoned writer.  The cover of this book is what first drew me in. It looks dark and interesting and something about it screamed at me to pick it up.  The main heroine, Charlie, was a clear, interesting, and dark character that captivated me from the first chapter. Her back story and the transformation she went through was incredibly deep and thought out. I liked Charlie, she had interesting style and secrets that withheld from a lot of people, but deep down, she was a good person and someone worth caring about.   Then enter, Simon. Not the stereotypical tatted up bad boy you see gracing the covers of so many books these days. He's a genuinely good guy with that sexy swagger about him. I loved him even more for being interested in a "bad girl" because that made him different than the yuppy rich boys he rolls with. He cares about more than just superficial surface crap. But just because he's a relatively "good guy" doesn't mean he lacked passion or intrigue on the pages. He oozed sex and confidence and I loved watching him demand more out of Charlie. He was in no way intimidated by her tough girl persona.  I gave this book four stars only because I save my 5 star reviews for books that blow my mind or make me feel all sorts of emotions that force me to flip back and re-read my favorite parts. Though, in all honestly, I will be flipping back and re-reading some of the steamy scenes....cuz damn. Piercings and sex sound a helluva lot hotter than what I have going on at home. ;) Meghan March really nails the steam...literally. :)  Overall, I couldn't put it down. The storyline stuck with me and I found myself thinking about it and itching to finish when I should be doing things like working, being a wife, and being a mother. Can't wait to read Con's story that I hear is coming out next!!!
