This darkly ironic story recalls 1940's noir classics, both in tone and content. Thornton draws his his characters neatly and creates a sepia-toned, intensely building thrill-ride. Highly recommended.

The story was great, an old fashion con job being planned and executed, and it holds your interest all the way til the end to see if it worked or not. Splendid.

The characters are not entirely plausible. The time setting ("during the LA riots") added nothing, but it didn't get in the way.
